Wine "Khvanchkara" is a real calling card of Georgia. It is unlikely that there will be a man who at least has not heard about him at the edge of his ear. When a Georgian is asked about what his homeland is famous for on a world scale, then, of course, Georgian wines are mentioned ! Khvanchkara is a prime example. The name itself seems to set the taster in a friendly manner. Let's find out more about him.
Khvanchkara wine and a bit of history
It is a natural (i.e. natural)
semi-sweet wine with a bouquet of the finest aromas. This drink belongs to the category of
red wines. There is a legend associated with the name of the tart drink. They say that Stalin was a passionate admirer of Khvanchkara. He came up with the name, must have been inspired by his Georgian roots. But since ancient times it was called simply "Kipianevsky." This is because at the dawn of the twentieth century, the two Grand Dukes of Kipiani brought wine to the exhibition, then held in Belgium. It was the distant year 1907. And what do you think? The wine turned out to be so pleasant in taste that it won the Grand Prix, as well as the personal badge of Leopold the Second and a real
gold medal.Wine "Khvanchkara" and its characteristics
What is this masterpiece made of? In Georgia there is a special place for winemakers called Racha. Excellent Alexandroly grapes are grown there. This is the first ingredient. The second important component is the native Georgian
grape variety “mujuretuli”. These are the magic components of a fabulous drink. It is worth noting that the alexandrowley grape variety grows only in Racha. They tried to grow it in other bands and latitudes, but the case was unsuccessful. This can be explained by the special climatic and geographical conditions of Rache, surrounded by mountains. So the unique grape remained the pride of Georgian territory.

The price of Khvanchkara wine is probably slightly higher than the prices of other Georgian wines, but it is well-deserved, because only this drink can surprise even the most fastidious gourmets with its truly refined taste. Tasters call the taste of the drink "round", as the wine seems to envelop the throat and the sky. The main notes of Khvanchkara are a stunning fruit and flower bouquet. You practically will not feel the unpleasant taste of alcohol or just alcohol, since sweetness blocks them. Georgian winemakers are very proud of this phenomenon. The thing is that the process of direct fermentation of wine at some point is artificially interrupted by the so-called "cold method". To do this, the temperature of the drink drops to minus five degrees. Sugar, which is present in grapes, simply does not have time to transform into alcohol. The true wine "Khvanchkara" is distinguished by a crimson-saturated red color, similar to blood. People who understand wines, note raspberry smack inherent in natural "Khvanchkara". By the way, it is completely unclear where it comes from, because this wine is made exclusively from the best grapes, and not from raspberries. If you have the chance to try Khvanchkar, do not refuse!
