Difficult times
Unfortunately, very little information remains about the composer's childhood and youth, since during the Second World War many documents were lost, and Lebedev Viktor Mikhailovich himself is not very verbose about this.
It is authentically known that at the age of 25, the composer graduated from the Leningrad city conservatory and specialized in organ and piano. It is worth noting that after completing his studies, Lebedev Viktor Mikhailovich began teaching at the Krupskaya State University of Cinematography. All critics and experts unanimously argue that the key moment in the composer's work was cooperation with the director Svetlana Druzhinina in the film "Midshipmen, Forward." However, their meetings might not have taken place, because another author had to work on the musical accompaniment of the film. But it is not in vain that they say that fate attracts the right people to each other.
Modernity
Lebedev Viktor Mikhailovich himself agrees that this work became a springboard in his subsequent composer career. Remembering that period, he notes that he was motivated to write fantastic works by competition with composers of a film about musketeers. It was a challenge for him, which he accepted with dignity.
The composer also doesn’t really like it when they talk about him only as the author of the music for "Midshipmen". He had many other good works. Talented composers are always needed, therefore, soundtracks, as it is now fashionable to call it, Viktor Mikhailovich continued to write after the collapse of the Union. It is worth noting that he is quite capable of withstanding competition with new authors.

As Viktor Lebedev recalled more than once, ballet has a special place in his life. It was with his help that the composer managed to meet his first wife. They also have a common son - Alex.
