Shoulder joint hurts - you need to do something

What is aching pain in the shoulder joint, I personally know firsthand. To say that the phenomenon is unpleasant is to say nothing. It’s even hard to fall asleep, constantly having to somehow choose a suitable position. Honestly, I still don’t know what it was. Apparently exceeded physical exertion. Ortofen drank a week, and everything went.

Today we’ll try to understand why the shoulder joint hurts in certain cases. By its functional features and the principle of its structure, this joint is perhaps the most unique in the human body. The inflammatory process in it is often caused by excessive and incorrect loads. There is an injury to the shoulder joint. There is swelling, and sometimes various damage to the muscles and tendons surrounding this joint.

Causes

The shoulder joint hurts in a number of cases, precisely because the shoulder ceases to withstand careless handling. That responds with pain in violation of their functions. In principle, these phenomena are characteristic of the entire human body.   There can actually be many reasons. The pain in this case is also acute and chronic, passing and prolonged. There are certain factors leading to the occurrence of such pathologies:

  • Excessive stress on the joint.
  • Improper posture.
  • The consequences of untreated injuries or sprains.
  • Reduced physical activity.
  • Intervertebral hernia.

If the shoulder joint hurts, then when examining the thoracic or cervical regions, an intervertebral hernia is often found . If the discs are damaged, then after a certain time their elastic properties are lost, and, accordingly, the distance between the vertebrae decreases. Thus, compression of the nerve roots extending from the spinal cord occurs. It is easy to guess that the result of such a clamping is pain.

The shoulder joint also hurts for the following reasons:

  • Tendonitis. This is an inflammation of the tendons surrounding the joint. It arises precisely from excess loads on the shoulder joint. Irritation and pain are the result of friction of the tendons on the bone.
  • Biceps inflammation. Accompanied by chronic pain. On palpation and movement, the pain intensifies. If biceps rupture occurs , swelling is visible on the shoulder.
  • Bursitis. It also arises from overloads. In this case, in addition to pain, swelling appears in the area of the joint bag.
  • Deposition of calcium salts. Such processes in the tendon can occur after thirty years. The pain usually appears when raising a hand. The nature of the pain is sudden, it is constant and intense. Deposits of calcium salts can be detected before the onset of pain symptoms, during an X-ray examination.
  • Injuries. When the humerus is displaced due to a fall, part of the arm pops out of the joint cavity. A man, trying to soften the blow from falling, often puts out his hand, which can cause tendon ruptures. In order to avoid chronic pathologies of the shoulder joint, seeking medical help is highly desirable.
  • Sports injuries. For example, often the shoulder joint hurts in people engaged in bodybuilding, significantly complicating the implementation of a number of exercises.
  • Diseases of the internal organs. It can be myocardial infarction, cervical radiculitis, liver pathology, chest diseases.

In addition to the factors mentioned, pain in the shoulder joint can occur for a number of other reasons. For example, this is neuritis of the brachial nerve, arthritis, osteochondrosis, the result of infection in the body, and others. In any case, it is impossible to make a diagnosis and start treatment on your own.

First of all, you should consult a traumatologist, perhaps an orthopedic consultation is necessary. The correct diagnosis in most cases helps to solve the problem in question. Be healthy!
