Pain and tingling in the lower abdomen

Very often, women turn to the gynecological office complaining of discomfort in the lower abdomen: drawing pain, tingling in the lower abdomen, etc. As a rule, this indicates a purely female diseases that are associated with the reproductive system. Violations can be detected in the uterus, cervix or appendages. Some types of other diseases of the pelvic organs can also cause frequent tingling in the lower abdomen.

Doctors divide pains located in the lower abdominal cavity into two types. The first type includes regular pain, which appears immediately before the start of the menstrual cycle, and with the cessation of menstruation, it recedes. The second group (large) includes pain that is not associated with PMS.

A tingling in the lower abdomen can be caused, as gynecological practice shows, by a period of ovulation, dysmenorrhea, or endometriosis.

But there are types of pain that are not associated with female diseases (gynecological). They can be caused by disorders in the gastrointestinal tract:

  • constipation (if they are caused by a tumor);
  • appendicitis
  • bowel obstruction;
  • gastroenteritis;
  • various inflammatory processes;
  • paraproctitis;
  • diverticulitis.

In addition, tingling in the lower abdomen is associated with some problems in the functioning of the urinary system:

  • pyelonephritis;
  • urolithiasis disease;
  • cystitis.

And now a little more about the causes of tingling in the lower abdomen associated with the menstrual cycle.

Endometriosis

Acute tingling (sometimes dull, often with dysmenorrhea) in the lower abdomen. Pain occurs during sexual contact or during bowel movement.

Dysmenorrhea

Acute tingling in the lower abdomen (less often dull), concomitant with nausea, diarrhea (constipation), rapid urination. The pain appears on the eve of menstruation or directly during it.

Ovulation

Acute tingling in the lower abdomen, aggravated during the peak, and then gradually dying away. May be accompanied by minor spotting (vaginal).

The most common causes of lower abdominal pain not related to the menstrual cycle

Inflammation

The foci of inflammation in the pelvis cause severe pain (especially during intercourse), tingling in the lower abdomen, provoke the appearance of secretions (purulent).

Ectopic pregnancy

Violated ectopic pregnancy is characterized by acute tingling in the lower abdomen (constant pain), vaginal bleeding. Such pain can be accompanied by fainting, a state of hemorrhagic shock.

Changing the position of the appendages (twisting)

Twisting of the appendage causes acute unilateral tingling, which is often accompanied by pain when touching the stomach, vomiting and nausea. Such pain usually manifests itself during pregnancy and with an increase in ovaries over four centimeters (when stimulated).

Miscarriage (abortion)

Spontaneous abortion causes constant tingling and pain, which is accompanied by bleeding from the vagina.

Ovarian or Uterus Cancer

Pain does not occur immediately, increasing gradually. Often accompanied by uterine bleeding.

Necrosis of the node

With uterine myoma, node necrosis is determined by sharp and fairly strong tingling sensations. Pain arising acutely is accompanied by bleeding from the vagina. It often appears at the beginning of pregnancy (up to twelve weeks), after an abortion or childbirth.

Usually doctors complain about “tingling down the abdomen” with a referral for urinalysis, an ultrasound of the appendages and uterus, and a pregnancy test. Modern technology allows you to quickly determine the causes of such pain, which allows you to start treatment in a timely manner.
