Soviet films, in spite of their “censorship” and “staging”, possessed an amazing property: they encouraged to believe in the movie world being shown, in which all personalities were equal, and the heroes did everything exclusively for the idea. So the dilogy "Ivan Brovkin on the virgin lands", whose actors are deservedly called the legend of Russian cinema, has not departed from the canonical principles of early Soviet cinema.
Lyrical comedy
The film "Ivan Brovkin on virgin lands" was released in 1958, just at that moment when the lyrical Soviet cinema began its development, waking up after a hard Stalinist propaganda period. The atmosphere of the film is rather simple-minded, and to some contemporaries its plot narrative may seem obscure and even boring. After all, the whole plot of the film is a clear demonstration of how people united by one idea alone work selflessly for the good of the Motherland and at the same time they are sure to achieve success. The film "Ivan Brovkin on the virgin lands" is a great retro film. Watching it means fully enjoying the deep pure feelings, sincere emotions, real human values that exist, despite all the difficulties that always exist: in the post-war years, and now, in chaotic modernity.
Sequel paintings
After the success of the first film, “Soldier Ivan Brovkin” (1955), the creators took up the filming of the film, a continuation of the adventures of the central character - the film “Ivan Brovkin on virgin soil”, whose actors brilliantly conveyed to the viewer the idea of director Ivan Lukinsky. The plot of the tape was also famously twisted around the personality of the central character Ivan Brovkin (actor Leonid Kharitonov). First, the crafty guy ends his military service with the rank of sergeant and with a group of like-minded colleagues decides to go to the development of the virgin lands. However, before a long journey he goes to visit his native land and bride Lyubasha. But the native collective farm meets the hero rather coolly - half of the inhabitants consider him a traitor, the wedding is upset, and Ivan leaves for the virgin lands in his hearts.
And again in battle, we only dream of peace ...
The main character, having arrived on the virgin lands in the midst of harvesting, immediately joins the friendly team. Winter is passing, in spring Ivan becomes a foreman and awaits his mother’s visit, but the guy never ceases to miss his beloved. Before the arrival of the mother, virgin soil friends erect a house for their foreman. Soon Zakhar Silych (actor Mikhail Pugovkin), the chairman of Brovkin’s native collective farm, arrives on the virgin lands, he wants to pick up his bride Polina, who also works conscientiously on the virgin lands. However, having seen the situation, imbued with the spirit of solidarity of the workers, he decides to stay with his beloved and “raise the virgin soil”. For significant labor successes, Brovkin is awarded an honorary award - the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, now the hero boldly goes to his native places to embrace the waiting Lyubasha. After a noisy wedding, the newlyweds return to the development of virgin lands. From the foregoing, it becomes clear - the film "Ivan Brovkin on the virgin lands" is a real Soviet melodramatic comedy with all the traditional components.

The song helps us not only to build, but also to live ...
The tape was shot on the real virgin soil, in the real state farm "Komsomolsky", located in the Orenburg region in the Adamovsky district. Naturally, in the script and during the filming, the life of the virgin soil workers was greatly “embellished”: separate houses at the new settlers, in the house and bathroom, toilet, amenities, etc. Nevertheless, the picture became extremely popular and received popular love and recognition, as well as songs sung by the heroes of the movie "Ivan Brovkin on the virgin lands". Actors predominantly performed them themselves. When the famous tenor S. Ya. Lemeshev received an offer to record songs for Brovkin's voice acting, he refused, explaining his refusal by a loss of credibility (because the protagonist clearly did not finish the conservatory). The musical compositions included in the picture were created by composer A. Lepin to the words of Alexei Fatyanov. Thanks to the talent and giftedness of these people, the songs “Komsomol members of the 30s”, “On difficult roads”, “How to go to me”, “Orenburg steppes” were sounded in the movie “Ivan Brovkin on the virgin lands”.
