Today there is a huge variety of medicinal medicines and pills. However, there are those that have already been tested by time and people. But lately for some reason they began to forget about them. In this article I want to talk about whether it is worth giving a medicine such as "Mukaltin" to a child.
About the drug
First of all, you need to figure out what this medicine is. These are tablets that have excellent anti-inflammatory and expectorant effects. They are used for the common cold, bronchitis, tracheitis, in the treatment of wet cough, and even with pneumonia and bronchial asthma. Its main components are three elements: medicinal moth , sodium bicarbonate and tartaric acid. It is thanks to these weak means that this therapeutic drug can be given to children without fear. Just follow the instructions.
First rule
If the mother decided to give the Mukaltin tablets to the child, she should first consult with the doctor whether this should be done, and if so, how. It is not worth completely relying on the instructions, because the doctor may not know all the nuances of the baby’s disease.
Age restrictions
According to the instructions, giving the drug "Mukaltin" to a child who is less than a year old is not recommended. It is intended for children over the first year of life. However, it is widely used for such a group of patients. If the doctor himself prescribes this drug to the baby, he must tell how to dose the drug correctly. Babies up to two years old are supposed to take half a tablet at a time. After this age, you can give the drug "Mukaltin" to a child (2 years or older) one or two tablets at a time, but no more than four pieces per day.
Dosage
This medicine is used three times a day according to the standard scheme - in the morning, at lunch and in the evening. However, it should be given not after eating, but about an hour before a meal. For convenience, “Mukaltin” medicine can be given to small children in a diluted form, with water: one tablet per 30 ml of warm boiled water. If the baby does not like this liquid, it can be slightly sweetened, the effect of the drug will not change from this. Such a medicine, basically, crumbs are taken without problems. The duration of treatment does not exceed two weeks. However, most often give the drug no more than seven days.
Contraindications
Each mother can give the drug "Mukaltin" to a child without fear. After all, this medicine is completely non-toxic. It does not cause allergic reactions, vomiting, does not affect the hormonal balance of the body. However, contraindications to the use of this drug exist. First of all, it is intolerance by the patient of one of its components (only in this situation can allergies arise in the form of itching, redness on the skin, and slight urticaria). It is also not recommended to take medicine for patients who have diseases of the duodenum, stomach ulcer, gastroduodenitis.
Attention!
Currently, they are still often used to treat Mukaltin tablets. For children (doctors' opinions are very convincing in their warning), this medicine cannot be recommended for use along with other drugs containing codeine. This can lead to significant difficulties in coughing up sputum.
