How to cook a haystack salad? Recipe Selection

In our fast-paced time, women have no time to stand in the kitchen and cook various delicacies for days. But there is a way. Especially for busy housewives, cooks come up with a lot of interesting, quick, and most importantly, delicious recipes. One of these is the Haystack salad, which is done literally in a matter of minutes, and the best part is the simple useful ingredients.

What is unique about this cold appetizer? First of all, by the fact that it contains not boiled potatoes, but fries (fried). Only it is necessary to rub it on a fine grater so that after frying it resembles dried hay, from here, as you know, the name of the salad appeared. And how pleasant this vegetable then crunches and leaves an unforgettable aftertaste, especially in combination with fresh tomatoes and lean chicken breast!

By the way, the ingredients can be changed, for example, use mushrooms instead of meat, and replace tomatoes with fresh cucumbers. Who likes it! Surely you already "drooled." We will no longer languish and begin to prepare a light, juicy and low-calorie dish. We describe several options.

Haystack Salad: Recipe One. Components

Mandatory ingredients are:

  • two breasts;
  • any cheese (100 g);
  • fresh tomato (large);
  • two medium carrots;
  • 2 eggs;
  • two potatoes (raw);
  • several cloves of garlic;
  • mayonnaise;
  • vegetable oil.

Cooking method

We start cooking from the top layer - potatoes and carrots, because they take time. To begin with, we will clean them, rinse and rub on a grater on which Korean carrots are made. We should get thin stripes.

They should be kept for some time in slightly salted cold water. In a deep bowl, preferably a cauldron, pour oil (on two fingers), heat and lower the vegetable strips. Cook until brown, leave on a paper towel to cool.

Dip the tomato with boiling water, remove the peel and cut into thin cubes or half rings. We tear the boiled breast with our hands on the fibers, we rub the cheese. Finely chop the eggs. Mix mayonnaise with chopped garlic. If you wish, you can add cilantro for piquancy and color.

All products are ready. Now we proceed to the most important step - the formation of puff salad "Haystack." We put chicken meat on the dish, then eggs, tomatoes, grated cheese - we cover each layer with mayonnaise-garlic dressing. Spread the fried carrots and potatoes on top and put in the refrigerator for soaking for an hour.

Option Two. Ingredients

List of haystack snacks:

  • two fresh cucumbers and as many tomatoes;
  • two potatoes;
  • boiled chicken fillet (200 g);
  • light mayonnaise.

For decoration, you will need pomegranate seeds, a little prune and a sprig of dill.

Cooking process

We make french fries. Boil the meat, cut into strips. Do the same with tomatoes and cucumbers (do not forget to remove the peel from the tomatoes). Lay the “Haystack” salad in layers: cucumber, chicken, tomatoes, french fries. Do not forget to pour mayonnaise and decorate. Great meal for the festive table!

Finally, imagine a dietary appetizer of greens, which is enthusiastically eaten in the summer. In some restaurants it can be found in the menu called "Hay". For this dish you need a whole list of ingredients:

  • Chinese salad (several pcs.);
  • small cucumbers (5-6 pcs.);
  • cherry tomatoes (five pcs.);
  • basil;
  • potatoes (2 pcs.);
  • bell pepper;
  • balsamic vinegar;
  • olive oil;
  • half a dessert spoon of granulated sugar;
  • black pepper;
  • salt.

Cut the tomatoes into two halves, chop the cucumbers and pepper into strips. Salad leaves to pick with hands. Fry the potato sticks. Add food to the sauce, which is prepared as follows: combine vinegar with sugar, basil, olive oil and spices. Garnish the top of the appetizer with fried potatoes. In the Haystack salad, some add ground walnuts and raisins.
