Happy parents dreamed of a bright future, but six months later the war began. Igor Nikolaevich rarely recalls his childhood, with invariably light sadness in his eyes. He grew up like everyone else: hungry, cold, there were travels and turmoil - the war left its mark on fate. Songs always accompanied the boy: folk, front-line, lyrical ...

Favorite brainchild
For a long and fruitful life, Igor Nikolaevich had many students, and each for him was like a child. However, the most beloved and expensive offspring of Igor Voronov is the Ross-Antique vocal quartet of ancient music. It was organized in 1980 and has since been successfully touring the country and abroad. The vocalists performing with him in the quartet have long become loyal friends and like-minded people. They are sure that their duty to the Fatherland is the revival and performance of the best examples of ancient musical art of the 17th – 19th centuries. As artistic director, I.N. Voronov approaches the compilation of the repertoire and program of performances of Ross-Antika with particular care.
He conducts research activities, works in archives and museums, searches for ancient manuscripts in which there are musical notes of works, processes ancient melodies for vocal performance. Of course, most of the quartet’s repertoire is the musical heritage of Russian composers and ancient folk tunes. However, in the programs of performances one can listen to the masterpieces of Western European classical music and the works of Voronov's contemporaries: composers V. Dyachenko, V. Artemov, V. Kalistratov, I. Kataev and many other colleagues in the workshop.
