Sexual infections are diseases that in most cases are transmitted through unprotected sexual intercourse of any kind. According to statistics, the most common is the infection of a woman from a man than vice versa. The most common genital infections: gardnerella, herpes virus, ureaplasma, urogenital mycoplasma, chlamydia, cytomegalovirus.
Symptoms that indicate genital infections: itching and pain during urination and during sex, redness of the mucous membranes of the
genitals. As well as small ulcers and blisters in the genital area and on them,
discharge with an unpleasant odor.If these symptoms are detected, it is necessary to urgently visit a doctor and undergo an examination for genital infections, during which a smear will be taken to identify the causative agent of the disease. Based on this, the doctor will prescribe the correct and adequate treatment, which will help to avoid serious complications. A blood test is also performed for HIV, syphilis and viral hepatitis B and C.
Genital infections spread by climbing:
- Stage 1. There is a lesion of the urethra in men and the cervix and vagina - in women. This stage is often characterized by the formation of cervical erosion.
- 2 stage. In men, the infection spreads to the prostate gland and kidneys, in women - to the uterus, its appendages and urinary tract.
- 3 stage. In women, inflammation of the uterus and appendages develops into a chronic form, adhesions form in the tubes. Men get chronic prostatitis, which is accompanied by impaired sperm formation. Patients may experience: stomatitis, conjunctivitis, cystitis, pyelonephritis.
The main consequence of genital infections in both women and men is infertility. There is also a risk of contracting HIV, hepatitis B or C. Therefore, it must be remembered that self-healing is not characteristic of these diseases, and the disappearance of some symptoms can only indicate that the disease has gone into a latent form. In order to prevent this from happening, treatment should be timely.
Treatment
As a rule, the treatment of genital infections is based on the use of antibiotics, immunomodulators and hepatoprotectors. If the disease has complications, then laser therapy, physiotherapy and ultrasound procedures are used. The effectiveness and outcome of treatment largely depends on the time the patient seeks medical help, on compliance with all prescribed recommendations, and on the professionalism of the venereologist.
Prevention
In order to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases, you need to have only one sexual partner. If, nevertheless, there is the slightest suspicion of an STD, you should immediately consult a doctor and undergo a thorough examination.
At the same time, do not forget that both partners must pass all the necessary tests, since otherwise re-infection may occur. Condom use is also a reliable way to prevent sexually transmitted infections.
