Plot

Katya and her mother are urgently forced to collect things - the new owner of the house hurries and intimidates them. But they have nowhere to go. And there is no means of subsistence either. After such a blow of fate, Nina Fedorovna’s heart cannot stand it. Catherine makes dreams of music and becomes a doctor in order to independently look after a sick mother.
After practicing in the hospital, the girl meets the head physician Roman. In love with Katya before losing his pulse, he is ready for anything for her. The novel pays for Catherine and her mother a new apartment, constantly takes care of them, which causes immeasurable gratitude to the heroine who fascinated him, but not love. A man offers her a marriage and swears to protect, especially since the girl’s mother, having failed to cope with the consequences of a stroke, dies. Zakharova, feeling obliged to Roman, agrees. However, is there happiness without love? Marriage turns into torment for both - Katya cannot force herself to fall in love, avoids her husband and contact with him, plunging into work, which makes him almost crazy. A serious quarrel occurs - and Katya leaves. To escape from the past, she gets a job as a doctor in a remote village. Here the girl meets Sergei and falls in love. But the whole snag is that the father of her beloved is the same insidious realtor, because of which the life of the Zakharovs went downhill.
