One of the popular medications is Detralex, which reduces swelling and a feeling of heaviness in the legs, relieves cramps of the limbs.

Varicose disease of the lower extremities can develop into a chronic disease. Most often, surgical intervention is used to combat the ailment. Chronic venous insufficiency is classified according to the severity of the disease and five stages are distinguished:

  1. vein disease
0-1 - heaviness in the legs, telangiectasia (spider veins and nets), reticular varicose veins. An operation is not required, drugs, swimming and hydromassage are prescribed. Sclerotherapy or microsclerotherapy is possible - this is a cosmetic procedure to eliminate telangiectasias.
  2. 2-3 - varicose veins of the lower extremities and edema of their tissues. The miniflebectomy procedure is applied - a surgical procedure in which the affected areas are removed by cutting the veins. After removing the bandages, scars may remain.
  3. 4 - vein enlargement, stable edema, lipodermatosclerosis, hyperpigmentation. Surgical treatment is carried out, for example, Babcock surgery.
  4. 5-6 - leg vein disease, persistent edema, trophic ulcer. The procedure is performed mimiflebectomy, endosurgery of the veins and plastic ulcers.

The main complications of the disease include:

  1. Trophic ulcers - as a rule, are located on the inside of the lower leg. Ulcers are surrounded by telangiectasias and occur with descending and ascending varicose veins. If the ulcers are located close to the diseased veins or there is high venous pressure, then bleeding occurs.
  2. Venous thrombosis is a thrombus formed in the lumen of a vein. It develops with an untimely appeal to a doctor or non-compliance with the recommendations of a phlebologist.

Thrombophlebitis is a thrombosis and inflammation of the veins. Its most dangerous form is acute thrombophlebitis, which can develop on the entire venous system. This phenomenon is called phlebothrombosis; the disease is fatal.

Varicose disease of the lower extremities requires preventive measures. These include contrasting douche, massage and therapeutic exercises.
