Carbuncle is a visible purulent inflammation of the skin with elements of necrosis, the foci of which are located near the hair follicles and sebaceous glands and are capable of intense spread over the entire surface of the dermis. Most often, the carbuncle prevails on the back, lower back and neck, which makes its unexpected detection available to every patient. What is this pathology? Purulent inflammation of the skin with the participation of near hairs is observed, which gradually turn into large areas of necrosis, acquiring a dark color.
Carbuncle, the treatment of which takes a long period of time and takes a lot of energy is an unpleasant phenomenon. But, before treatment, it is necessary to reliably find out the nature of the disease of the carbuncle, the causes of its occurrence and the degree of progression. It should be noted that this pathology is infectious in nature, the main causative agent of which is Staphylococcus aureus or its other species.
At an early stage of the disease, several dense nodules appear in the above areas of the human body, which gradually merge together, forming a common infiltrate. The latter, in turn, begins to rapidly increase in size, sometimes reaching the dimensions of the palm. In this case, the skin is tightened strongly, and cyanosis is visible in the center of the neoplasm, and the surface of the infiltrate becomes hemispherical. The first stage of the progression of this pathology lasts up to two weeks, but then several protrusions are formed in the area of ββthe infiltrate, which open, turning the appearance of the carbuncle into a baby sieve. Through these holes pus seeps and necrotic masses of green with blood clots. But this stage is gradually coming to an end, and it is followed by the gradual necrosis of skin cells and the formation of a deep ulcer. Together, both stages (suppuration and necrosis) last up to 20 days, and then the ulcers are filled with granulation tissue, forming a rough deep scar. Deep scars remain for life, as a memory of a carbuncle disease, the treatment of which is sometimes even carried out surgically, but first things first.
On the patientβs body, single carbuncles are mainly observed, the appearance of which is accompanied by fever, aggressive spasmodic pain, as well as general malaise and palpable chills. Very often, already existing pathologies such as nervous exhaustion or diabetes mellitus can become a significant cause of the progression of carbuncle disease, the treatment of which is simply necessary, since bleeding from a large vessel and sepsis can even cause the patient's death.
The relevant question arises, but how to treat carbuncle? Definitely, it was asked by experienced specialists who are faced with a similar skin pathology more than once.
There are two areas of productive treatment, which one should be preferred by the doctor, taking into account the general clinical picture and characteristic complaints of the patient. So, on an outpatient basis, for effective treatment of small carbuncles, antibiotic therapy is indicated, where the doctor prescribes antibiotics (Ampicillin, Ampioks) and synthetic antibacterial drugs with a wide spectrum of action (Furagin, Biseptol). But this is not limited to this, there are other precautions against the development of carbuncle disease, the treatment of which also includes taking analgesic and cardiac drugs, as well as a dairy-vegetable diet. UHF therapy and ultraviolet irradiation are also used. With a positive course of treatment, improvements begin to be noticeable already on the third day of intensive care. However, when foci of dead tissue appear, the patient is prescribed an immediate operation, after which antibiotic therapy is continued.
To avoid such a fate, you must be careful about your own state of health.
