The dystopian genre is quite common in modern cinema. These are the Spielberg films âArtificial Intelligenceâ and âMinority Opinionâ, the thrillers âI, Robotâ and âI am a legendâ with Will Smith, âThe Islandâ by Michael Bay, the criticized âRippersâ, the cult franchise about the chosen one - âNeo Matrixâ, shot by Wachowski.
When chaos reignsThe cinema works in this direction should include the new painting âJudgment Nightâ. Reviews of the film are diametrically opposed: from sharp denial to loyal approval. The action in it takes place in a not so distant future, from which less than 10 years separate us. America is booming: unemployment is almost zero, and there is no previous rampant crime. And all because the new government, which loudly calls itself in the best traditions of the âLincolnâ era âfounding fathersâ, declared one of the spring days of the year, or rather, the night of March 22, a time of complete lawlessness. This annual action is called âJudgment Night,â which you should better ask the poor and destitute for feedback, because the rich, who are sitting quietly behind seven castles, cannot touch the punishing hand. In these 12 hours, it is allowed to deal with anyone: from the unloved chef to the bored wife, or you can simply take out your accumulated anger on someone accidentally met. Obstacles to you will not be repaired, because the police and all medical facilities during this period take a timeout.

Should I open the door to strangers?
The prosperous Sandin family: dad James, mother Mary, teenager Charlie and the girl "almost to marry" Zoe do not expect anything bad from the coming night, because the house is under the reliable protection of a special security mechanism. Just the sale of these armored systems is the responsibility of the head of the family, who has made a considerable amount of money in a profitable business. Lovely-looking neighbors have been sharpening their teeth on Sandin for a long time, because with them he was "imposing" expensive equipment. They will still have a reason to take revenge on a successful manager. In the meantime, everything is going calmly. Just the son made a mistake, letting (without asking permission from the elders) a dark-skinned tramp into the dwelling, followed by a crowd of diverging students hiding their faces behind carnival masks. The worst is yet to come, a lot of surprises have been saved by Doomsday. Reviews of the picture are interspersed with comparisons. Someone draws parallels with the Oscar-winning Straw Dogs or the Fincher's Room of Fear, in which the audience met the future Bella Swan Kristen Stewart (she played the character's daughter Jodie Foster). And someone found the intersection of both versions of the Fun Games Haneke and the Doomsday thriller. Reviews in these cases are not in favor of the latter.

Not allowed to turn around
Sandin's spouses were played by Ethan Hawke and Lina Hedi. Twice nominee for an Oscar, ex-spouse Thurman Hawke recently has not really shone (or he comes across small roles). Mary at Hedi also got a little cardboard. For these actors, she did not become a breakthrough and revelation of Doomsday. Reviews of the tape mainly relate to the tough plot and the absurdity of what is happening on the screen, and not the manifestation of the performing talents of the artists involved in the picture. A chilling villain (like a couple of sadists from the same "Funny Games") could appear as the leader of the fascist youth who besieged Sandin's house (he was portrayed by a young Australian Reese Wakefield). Either the mask interfered, or the script material was not enough to turn around.
This âdoomsday-2013â ââturned out to be contradictory. Reviews are evidence of this. But one of the main thoughts of the picture about the impossibility of complete and irreversible permissiveness - even once a year - will make anyone who watches this film creation think.
