Biography of Timur Mutsuraev is of interest not only to residents of his native Chechnya, but also to representatives of other nationalities, because the famous singer performs his songs in Russian, familiar to most in the territory of the former Soviet Union.
School years
Timur Mutsuraev was born on 06/15/1976 in the city of Grozny. Like all Soviet children, at the age of seven he went to school (No. 30). His favorite pastime in his youth was sports. Hard training Timur brought more than tangible results. At the age of 15 years (in 1991) Mutsuraev became the champion of the Chechen-Ingush ASSR in karate. Less than a year after that, the Autonomous Republic ceased to exist.
War with Russia
The biography of Timur Mutsuraev is directly related to one of the most bloody wars of the 20th century. She also had a tremendous influence on his work. The tragedy that happened in Chechnya turned his whole life upside down.
12/11/1994, the First Chechen conflict began. Prior to this, passions were heated to the limit twice. The first time was in November 1991, after Yeltsin’s attempt to introduce a state of emergency in the republic . The second - in 1992, when during the suppression of the Ossetian-Ingush conflict, Russian troops almost entered Chechnya.
All these events of the future singer did not leave indifferent. In the first Chechen war, Mutsuraev took an active part, fighting on the Central Front on the side of the Islamists. In one of the bloody battles in the village of Serzhen-Yurt, the singer was seriously injured, as a result of which he was left without a leg.
The work of the singer
“Welcome to Hell” is the first music album recorded by Timur Mutsuraev. His biography (photo of Timur, by the way, you can see above) as a songwriter began precisely during the First Chechen War. This album was recorded by him in 1995, at the very height of the conflict. Its name is not just symbolic. It was such an inscription that everyone could see at the entrance to the once peaceful and prosperous Grozny.
The songs of the Islamist Mutsuraev are, of course, primarily patriotic. Another characteristic feature is deep metaphor. They are as if called to lead the listener out of a bloody terrible reality. Confirmation of this can be seen even in the title of the third album of the singer ("Paradise under the shadow of a saber"). Singer Timur Mutsuraev in his compositions constantly calls the listener precisely to the quiet monastery of Allah, its streams, magical gardens and beautiful virgins. Perhaps this is a manifestation of the religious worldviews of the independence fighter. However, this can be interpreted as a desire to return to the past. That is, at a time when relations between people were completely different, the native pre-war Grozny was different.
The biography of Timur Mutsuraev is indirectly associated with the movie. Two compositions of the singer can be heard in the popular Russian film "War" by Alexei Balabanov. These are the songs "Jerusalem" and "Shamil leads the squad."
After the war
During the war, Mutsuraev lost not only his leg. He lost his homeland, on which he is now considered a state criminal.
According to one of the network’s most popular sites, on May 15, 2008, Mutsuraev, currently hiding from the Russian authorities, came to Chechnya to meet with Ramadan Kadyrov himself. However, a little later, the agency that disseminated this information denied it. Although the fact that the initial information was true is quite possible. The fact is that by June 2008 Timur himself had recorded two songs, this time in the Chechen language, in the text of which there are references to his personal meeting with the President of Chechnya.
Some of Mutsuraev’s songs are recognized by the Russian authorities as extremist. The words to such works were not written by him, but by Aslan Yarichev. Timur himself mainly writes texts on the theme of nationalism. None of the songs with verses composed by him personally is forbidden to listen to or dub in any of the countries of the world. Biography of Timur Mutsuraev clearly demonstrates the fate of the generation of Soviet Chechen schoolchildren, left alone with a terrible tragedy - a war that destroyed their lives.
