In world fiction there are many fairy tales for children who have their own authorship. Among them is this wonderful and beloved by many children in Russia - about the mischievous and cheerful Chipollino, the onion boy. Along with other fairy-tale characters, his image forever won the attention and trust of the children as the embodiment of the romance of justice and strong friendship. And the children are so fond of the fairy tale that they have become a reference book for several generations of Russians and still, along with such as The Adventures of Pinocchio or Little Red Riding Hood, for example, are in the circle of active children's reading.
Who wrote "Cipollino"
Despite the fame of this work, some guys do not know who the author of the tale is, and some think that it is folk. And there is a certain amount of truth to this. Indeed, ingenuity and courage, kindness and naivety of Italian folk characters are involved in it. But, despite some stylization, she has a specific authorship. Who wrote Chipollino? The author of this work is Gianni Rodari. The fate of the future writer and a fighter for communist ideals was not easy.
The one who wrote the fairy tale "Cipollino"
Gianni was the son of a simple Italian baker. His father Giuseppe left the world when little Rodari was only ten years old. The writerโs childhood passed in the village of Varesotto. It is known that from childhood the boy was fond of music (playing the violin) and reading books, grew painful and quite often became ill. For three years he studied at the seminary, attended classes at the Faculty of Philology in Milan. After learning, the one who wrote Chipollino became a teacher (at the age of 17 he began teaching in rural elementary grades).
Participation in anti-fascist resistance
During the war, Gianni is exempted from military service due to poor health. Accepting the ideas of communism, he participates in anti-fascist resistance and in 1944 joins the Communist Party of Italy.
Post-war years
After World War II, Gianni Rodari works as a columnist for Unita, the newspaper of the Italian Communists. And in 1950, he was appointed editor of the children's magazine. In 1951 he published his first children's poetry collection, entitled The Book of Merry Poems. And then - and his famous future tale.
Russian translation of the work
Now many people know who wrote Cipollino. But in 1953, when the tale first appeared in the USSR in the translation of Potapova, few people heard about the young Italian author. But the work immediately fell in love with both young readers and literary critics. Books with drawings are published in million copies. And at the Soyuzmultfilm studio in 1961, a cartoon was shot based on the work. In 1973 - a film-fairy tale "Cipollino" (where the author played himself, a storyteller-inventor). The work became so popular that it was included in the school curriculum for Soviet schoolchildren. Gianni Rodari, the one who wrote Cipollino, repeatedly comes to the USSR, where he is treated with love and respect.
World famous
In 1970, a children's writer entered the circle of the most widely read authors for babies and received a very prestigious award after another storyteller - Andersen. She brought him truly worldwide fame. And the cheerful and fair onion boy became one of the favorite heroes of the guys all over the planet. His books (not only The Adventure of Cipollino, but also children's poems, short stories and other works) are published in many languages โโof the world, and children always read them with great pleasure. In our country, Rodari's poems were published in no less talented translations of Marshak, Akim, Konstantinova.
