The medicine 'Fezam': side effects of the drug

Phezam is a drug designed to improve brain function. The composition of the medication includes two main components: cinnarizine, which improves blood circulation in the brain, and piracetam, which stimulates metabolic processes in its cells.

Despite its non-toxicity, the drug "Fezam" has some side effects. Since this medicine is prescribed for long-term treatment for serious diseases, it should be taken only under the supervision of doctors. It is not recommended to treat yourself and take the drug "Fezam" to older people to improve intelligence and memory. Taking the drug for this category of people is fraught with the development of Parkinsonism - an ailment that leads to the death of brain cells and loss of human control over their movements.

The drug "Fezam": side effects

Of course, one cannot ignore allergic reactions to this pharmaceutical agent, which are inherent in almost any medicine and depend on the individual characteristics of the human body. Allergy when taking the medicine we are considering manifests itself mainly in a different type of itchy rash, urticaria, which turns into edema of the subcutaneous tissue. With any manifestations of allergies, it is necessary to cancel taking the drug "Fezam".

Side effects can occur in the form of abdominal pain, nausea, headache, loose stools, increased drowsiness, or, conversely, insomnia.
There are contraindications for admission from the kidneys and liver.
The drug "Fezam" is completely and rapidly absorbed and enters the bloodstream, distributed throughout the tissues and organs. In severe kidney and liver diseases, administration is contraindicated, because the drug is destroyed in the liver and subsequently partially excreted through the kidneys. In case of disturbances in the functioning of these organs, the accumulation of active substances in the body will occur.

The drug "Fezam": side effects during pregnancy

This drug should not be taken by pregnant and lactating mothers, since piracetam can pass through the placenta and excreted in breast milk. Although laboratory studies have not shown a negative effect on pregnant women and the fetus itself, no one can say with certainty about the safety of the drug for these categories of patients.
The same applies for children under five years of age.

The drug "Fezam": side effects with parkinsonism

Parkinson's disease is a slowly progressive syndrome characterized by an increase in muscle tone, as well as bradykinesia and trembling hyperkinesis, which arise as a result of varying degrees of damage to the extrapyramidal system. With prolonged use of the drug "Fezam" in elderly patients, the symptoms of parkinsonism may intensify, since the composition of the drug includes cinnarizine, which adversely affects the extrapyramidal system.

The drug "Fezam" and alcohol

Although some indications for taking the Fezam drug are relevant in cases of alcohol intoxication (the need to reduce blood viscosity and excitability of the vestibular apparatus), the use of the drug after drinking alcohol is unacceptable.
The components that make up the drug cause a depressing effect on the nervous system, brain activity and general psychophysical activity. This is especially noticeable in the initial period of taking the drug. If alcohol is taken at the same time as the medicine, then their combined effect on the central nervous system can lead to a mutual multiple increase in side effects.

The drug "Fezam": side effects and driving a car

Manufacturers do not prohibit the use of this medicine when driving vehicles and performing work that requires quick response and concentration. However, cinnarizine causes drowsiness, reduces reaction and attention, therefore driving a car under the influence of the drug "Fezam" is possible only for those who do not observe such side effects.
