Effective mucolytic agents include the drug Fluimucil. The instructions to it indicate that the drug is available in 3 dosage forms. The main active substance of this medication is acetylcestein. It has a pronounced expectorant effect. On the shelves of pharmacies you can find:
- effervescent tablets containing 600 mg of acetylcysteine, citric acid, aspartame, sodium bicarbonate, lemon flavoring;
- 10% solution in 3-ml ampoules containing 100 mg of acetylcysteine ββin 1 ml, sodium hydroxide, disodium edetate, water for injection ;
- granules in one-gram sachets containing 200 mg of acetylcysteine, aspartame, orange flavoring, betacarotene, sorbitol.
Acetylcysteine ββhelps break the bonds of sputum acid polysaccharides, leading to a decrease in its viscosity and the depolarization of mucoproteins. The drug does not lose its activity even in the presence of purulent sputum. It has an antioxidant effect, neutralizing free radicals.
The drug "Fluimucil", the instruction for which recommends its use in diseases of the respiratory system (acute, chronic), penetrates through cell membranes. Acetylcysteine ββhelps to improve the synthesis of cellular glutathione, which is involved in the oxidative processes of cells, thereby helping to detoxify dangerous and harmful substances. Due to this property, acetylcysteine ββis used as an antidote for paracetamol poisoning.
Indications for use are bronchitis, bronchiectasis, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis.
The medicine "Fluimucil", instruction
A solution for oral administration is prepared from effervescent tablets. Assign to patients from 14 years. The tablet is dissolved in a third of a glass of water and the solution is drunk once a day. The doctor sets the duration of therapy individually in accordance with the nature of the disease.
The granules from which the solution for oral administration is prepared are taken in the following doses:
- patients from 12 l.: 400-600 mg are divided into 1-3 doses per day;
- children 2β6 years: 200β400 mg;
- children 6β12 l.: 400β600 mg, divided into 1-3 p.
Granules dissolve in a third of a glass of water. The doctor sets the duration of therapy individually in accordance with the nature of the disease.
Granules and effervescent tablets of the Fluimucil preparation, the instruction for which recommends the use of glassware to dissolve them, cannot be dissolved in metal dishes. Also, it must not be allowed to touch rubber surfaces. Do not introduce other drugs into the solution of the drug .
The Fluimucil solution is an antibiotic, the instructions for which indicate the need for parenteral administration. Adults are given 1 ampoule (300 mg) of 1-2 r. in a day. The drug is administered quite deeply and slowly. For children 6-14 liters. appoint 150 mg of 2 r. per day, up to 6 years - at the rate of 10 mg per 1 kg of weight every 12 hours. The duration of therapy is up to 10 days.
The drug "Fluimucil" (an antibiotic for inhalation) is prescribed in 1 ampoule of 1-2 p. in a day. The course is 5-10 days.
With endobronchial administration, adults are prescribed 1-2 ampoules of 1-2 p. in a day. The introduction is carried out using a bronchoscope or catheter.
Contraindications: hypersensitivity, peptic ulcer in the acute stage, pulmonary bleeding, bronchial asthma (without thick sputum), hemoptysis.
Effervescent tablets and granules containing aspartame should not be taken by patients with phenylketonuria.
The solution should not be taken with severe diseases of the kidneys and liver, bronchial asthma (without thick sputum).
Side effects: Quincke's edema, itching, skin reactions, anaphylactoid reactions, tinnitus, hemorrhage, headache, tachycardia, bronchospasm, dyspnea, stomatitis, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, dyspepsia, diarrhea, hyperthermia, decreased blood pressure. In rare cases, anemia, Lyell's syndrome is observed . With injections of this drug, burning, urticaria, nausea are sometimes observed, and with inhalation administration, cough, rhinitis, stomatitis, bronchospasm.
While taking this medication with certain antibiotics (tetracycline, amphotericin, ampicillin), the activity of both drugs decreases. The interval between their intake should be 2 hours. Activated carbon reduces the effectiveness of Fluimucil. Its administration with nitroglycerin leads to an increase in the desaregate and vasodilator effects of the latter.
