The Korean series "Moon Lovers", whose actors are known not only in East Asia, but throughout the world, won the audienceās love literally from the first episode in August 2016. The excitement around the drama was so strong that rumors are still circulating about filming the second season, but, unfortunately, only among fans. The authors of the telenovela do not plan this.
Chinese film adaptation and the source of the drama
The plot of the drama is based on the adaptation of the Chinese novel Tong Hua "Striking at every turn." He describes the adventures of a 21st-century girl who, after a car accident, falls into 18th-century Manchuria and lives in the body of her previous reincarnation, Maertai Jo Xi. Unable to return in due time, the main character finds herself at the epicenter of the struggle for the imperial throne. Jo Xi is waiting for a lot of trials, among which is an amazing love story.
The Chinese film adaptation was filmed in 2011 and had such tremendous success in the countries of Asia that the second season of the drama was shot, the action of which is already taking place today. The fact is that at the end of the original version the heroine dies in the 18th century and wakes up in the 21st. In the story, she meets the reincarnation of her beloved from the past, the 4th Prince of Yin Zheng, and a relationship is established between them again. In the second season, the audience is finally waiting for a happy ending. Although many fans are unhappy with the continuation of the series, it was filmed precisely thanks to the numerous requests of the audience.
Korean TV series "Moon Lovers": plot
The drama was shown 5 years later than the original, but was no less successful. The series "Moon Lovers" (Korea) is adapted to national realities, and its action takes place in the era of Kore. We are talking about a girl from our time who, by the will of fate, falls into the past, where she turns out to be the daughter-in-law of the heir to the throne (8th prince). Despite the sincere love for her cousin, the wife of Van Uku, who is sick with tuberculosis, the main character falls in love with the owner of the house. Having realized that sincere feelings bind young people, and knowing that he will die soon, the heirās wife tries to organize their marriage, but in vain. Hye Su turns out to be a bargaining chip in the fight for the throne. Van Uk betrays her, wanting to save his family from the intrigues of the empress. The main character is alone before a difficult choice. And although during her stay at the palace she found many friends, including among the princes, few people rush to her aid. It is Wang So (4th prince - future emperor) who helps her. He has long been in love with Hye-soo, but the girl cannot forget the 8th prince. In the end, the main characters will be together, but not for long. Hye Su will not be able to live in the palace, constantly encountering intrigues and fearing for her life, and she will no longer trust Wang So By the will of circumstances, the emperor is forced to marry his cousin. Hye Soo realizes that she has no place at court, and decides to run away secretly. But her plans are violated when the emperor finds out that the main character in the past had a romantic relationship with Van Wook. In anger, he agrees to the marriage of Hye-soo and his younger brother.
In the series "Lunar Lovers", whose actors perfectly embodied the stunning Chinese history, also a sad end. Having given birth to the emperorās child, Hye Soo dies to wake up in his time. Maybe she will meet the incarnation of Van So 21st century, but this was not shown to the audience. Rumor has it that there is an alternative ending to the story. Lee Joon Ki himself hinted at this on his Instagram, but so far the cut scenes did not go on the air. The second season, where the action takes place in our time, the Korean authors of the drama will not shoot. The fact is that in this country they rarely plan to continue the series. 20-30 episodes are usually all you can count on.
Two versions of the series
Initially, the authors of the series āMoon Loversā were guided by foreign viewers (Europeans, Chinese, Japanese, etc.); therefore, 2 versions of the drama were shot. People call them āKoreanā and āChineseā (international). In the second series, it lasts 5-10 minutes longer and includes scenes cut from the domestic version. Too bad, because some of them are beautiful. For example, the scene where Hye Su is applying makeup to Wang So's scar, or the scene of the torment of the 4th Prince, or the scene of reconciliation of the main characters after 3 years of separation. The last episode, of course, is present in both versions, but significantly changed (the soundtrack and the actions of the characters).
Korean dramas are usually filmed in parallel with a television show, but not this time. The series "Moon Lovers", with actor Lee Joon Ki in the title role, was edited a year earlier. Therefore, the authors of the telenovela only changed the installation before going on the air, depending on their preferences and, possibly, the rating.
It is a pity that the drama did not make a strong impression on the Koreans, because it is truly magnificent. This is proved by the numerous responses of fans around the world.

Lee Ji Eun is a Korean singer and actress. She began acting in dramas not so long ago. It has both fans around the world and detractors. Some people believe that it is her appearance in the TV series āMoon Loversā, where the leading actors of Korea are involved, is the reason for the low ratings in their homeland. This is unfair, because the artist looks very naturally on the screen, and her professionalism is growing day by day. This is confirmed by her work partners Lee Joon Ki and Cho Jong Suk.

Maybe itās a Korean tradition, but actors, once together working on the same project, often stay connected in the future and support each other personally and publicly.
