In the center of Kirov is the Youth Theater on Spasskaya. This theater has existed since the first half of the 20th century. His repertoire today includes productions not only for children, but also for adults.
About the theater
In 1935, the Youth Theater on Spasskaya was created. The theater was then a group of creative young people. The new troupe played the first performance in June 1936. It was a play by V. Lyubimova "Serge Sagittarius". The main director and artistic director of the theater was M.S. Shokhov. In the same 1936, the Youth Theater received its own building, which it still lives in. The room was repeatedly reconstructed. The dressing rooms, the stage, the backstage, the auditorium, the administrative premises, the lobby, the workshops were rebuilt. The last reconstruction took place in 1985-1986.
At the theater, wonderful actors, directors, artists, talented and courageous people who were not afraid of any experiments worked at all times.
In 1937, the Youth Theater was named after the writer N. Ostrovsky. During the war, the theater toured the Kirov region. In the 90s, the Youth Theater named after N. Ostrovsky was renamed the Theater on Spasskaya.
Since 2004, the director is Vladimir Gribanov.
The project "Migration" was created on the basis of the theater. This is a group of dancers, thanks to which choreographic performances appeared in the repertoire of the theater.

Premieres of the season 2015-2016
This season, several new performances were prepared for their audience by the Youth Theater on Spasskaya. The theater presented three premieres at once.
The first one is called "Dream Me." This is a performance based on the novel by M. Roshchin "Echelon". The production is intended for viewers no younger than 12 years old. The performance "Dream about me" is about the Great Patriotic War. He talks about the fact that the Victory was forged not only by those who defended our Motherland at the fronts with arms in their hands. A significant contribution to this common cause was made by those who provided the fighters with a reliable rear. They believed in Victory, waited faithfully, did not sleep at night, prayed and asked their dear people on the battlefield: "Dream me! .."
The second premiere is a play by W. Shakespeare - βTwo Veronetsβ. This is one of the early comedies of the great playwright, which during his lifetime has never been published. "Two Veronts" is the story of two couples in love who have formed a love polygon. The performance has everything - humor, adventure, flight, witches, betrayal and, of course, according to the laws of the comedy genre - del arte - a happy ending. The production is intended for viewers no younger than 16 years old.
The third premiere of this season is the play "Munchausen" based on the works of R.E. Raspe. Everyone knows this literary character. He is famous for telling fables about his exploits. Munchausen is a liar, artist, improviser and inventor. The performance is recommended for viewing to spectators no younger than 18 years old.
