Tranquilizers: List

The tranquilizers, the list of which will be presented below, are drugs that help reduce the excitability of brain regions, including the hypothalamus and thalamus, as well as the lymphatic system. They are used mainly for disorders of the central nervous system, in the preoperative period, as well as for calming and transporting animals.

Tranquilizers have a sedative sedative effect. In this case, there is a rapid decrease in wakefulness, apathy, lethargy and drowsiness ensue. When taking a tranquilizer, the muscles relax, the concentration of attention decreases , and reactions to external stimuli slow down.

All psychotropic therapeutic agents in one way or another contribute to a change in chemical reactions in the brain, and tranquilizers are not excluded. Classification of the latter includes:

- benzodiazepine drugs (nozepam, sibazon);

- propanediol (meprotan);

- diphenylmethane (amisyl) drugs.

Sedative and so-called daytime drugs are also distinguished.

Consider what tranquilizers are. The list is in front of you.

Benzodiazepine tranquilizers (list)

1. Means "Sibazon" has a pronounced tranquilizing effect, reduces the feeling of fear, tension, anxiety, and helps to normalize sleep. It also has anticonvulsant and antiarrhythmic effects. Use it for cramps and stomach ulcers. It is forbidden to use during pregnancy.

2. The medicine "Chlozepide" has a calming effect on the NS, promotes muscle relaxation, reduces cramps, and causes sleep. This drug is used for excitation of the nervous system, arthritis, neurosis. Contraindicated in pregnancy.

3. The pharmaceutical preparation "Phenazepam" has a strong anticonvulsant and hypnotic effect. It is used for neurosis, which is accompanied by a sense of fear and anxiety, as well as an anticonvulsant. It is not recommended to use this drug during pregnancy.

4. The medication "Nozepam" has a slightly weak effect on the body (mild anticonvulsant effect) and is non-toxic. The drug is used for neurosis.

Propanediol preparations

The most famous medicine in this group is Meprotan, which has a pronounced anticonvulsant and sedative effect, lowers body temperature, and is not toxic. The drug is used for high muscle tone, in the preoperative period, as well as for neurosis, which are accompanied by anxiety and fear. This tool causes drowsiness and muscle weakness.

The drugs of this group contribute to the inhibition of excitation in the spinal cord, thalamus and hypothalamus, developing a calming effect, but they do not affect the autonomic NS.

Diphenylmethane tranquilizers (list)

Among the drugs of this group, the most famous drug is Amizil, which has anticonvulsant, antihistamine, anesthetic and sedative effects. It also eliminates the cough reflex. The drug helps to reduce the influence of the vagus nerve, so people have an expansion of the pupils, decreased muscle tone and secretion of the glands. It is used for neurosis, muscle spasms, in the postoperative period, as well as for the diagnosis of eye diseases.

Medicines of this group have a strong effect on chemical reactions in the brain.

Thus, tranquilizer drugs have a calming effect on the central nervous system, but do not have an antipsychotic effect, but only reduce the feeling of anxiety, fear and tension. That is why they are used for small changes in the functions of the NS. At the same time, part of the drugs helps to relax muscles and stop cramps, another part has a sedative and activating effect. In any case, it is necessary to consult a specialist who will select the necessary drug.
