In the article, we consider the instructions and analogues for the Lyoton gel.
It is a medication with antithrombotic action, and is intended for local use. It has an antiexudative and moderate anti-inflammatory effect.
Structure
According to the instructions for Lyoton, the active component in its composition is sodium heparin. Its dosage in each gram of the drug is 1000 IU.
In addition to the main component, auxiliary ingredients such as purified water, ethanol, triethanolamine, carbomer 940, essential oils of neroli and lavender, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate are used in the manufacture of the medicine.
Pharmacological forms
The only dosage form of Lyoton is a gel intended for external use. The gel is a slightly yellowish, colorless or almost transparent viscous mass.
The gel is packaged in aluminum tubes, each of which can hold 30, 50, 100 grams of substance.
Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics
As indicated by the instructions for the Lyoton gel, when it enters the skin, it allows you to remove puffiness, reduce the permeability of the walls of blood vessels, prevent the exudate (fluid) from entering nearby tissues, stop the inflammation process, and suspend the activity of the blood coagulation system.
After using Lyoton, heparin enters the blood plasma and persists for a day. Plasma concentration reaches a maximum 8 hours after application.
The removal of heparin and its metabolites from the body is carried out mainly by the kidneys. Heparin, when applied to the skin, does not affect hemocoagulation.
Indications for use
In accordance with the instructions, "Lyoton" is indicated for use in patients with marked diseases of superficial veins, complicated, including:
- Phlebothrombosis (a pathology in which a trome is formed in the lumen of a vein attached to its wall and which completely or partially obstructs the vessel).
- Thrombophlebitis, i.e. thrombosis, which is accompanied by inflammation of the vessel wall and the closure of its lumen by a thrombus.
- Superficial periphlebitis, which is a chronic inflammation of the venous wall.
It is possible to consider the use of Lyoton to eliminate the complications that arose as a result of surgical intervention in the veins, sprains and injuries of the muscle-tendon and capsule-ligamentous apparatus, damage to the musculoskeletal system and soft tissues.
The drug very effectively eliminates localized tissue edema, inflammatory infiltrates, and accelerates the healing of subcutaneous hematomas.
This is confirmed by the instruction to "Lyoton 1000".
Contraindications
There are several contraindications, in the presence of which experts do not recommend using Lyoton. Among them:
- Individual susceptibility to any component that is part of the gel.
- Necrotic, as well as ulcerative changes in the skin in those areas where the drug is supposed to be applied.
- Traumatic violations of the integrity of the skin.
- Reduced hemocoagulation.
- Thrombocytopenia.
The instructions for the gel "Lyoton 1000" are very detailed.
Side effects
The list of probable undesirable effects arising from the use of the gel is not so extensive. When using the gel, only allergic skin reactions can occur.
Use, dosage and treatment regimens
In accordance with the instructions for using the medicine, a single dose of Lyoton for an adult is considered to be a column having a length of 3-10 cm. The recommended amount of Lyoton for use depends on the extent of the lesion. After applying to the skin, the ointment should be rubbed with gentle, gentle movements.
It is recommended to apply the gel to the affected areas from one to three times a day. In this case, the duration of the course of therapy depends on the severity of the pathology and indications.
Overdose
The instruction to "Lyoton" reports that there are no registered cases of overdose with this medication. It is believed that the likelihood of an overdose with external application of the gel is extremely small. This is due to the fact that the systemic absorption of the active component with this type of use is negligible.
If the gel was accidentally swallowed by a child, it may develop nausea, vomiting. In this case, it is important to wash the stomach and prescribe symptomatic therapy, if necessary.
The main antidote of sodium heparin is protamine sulfate.
Interaction with other medicines
What else can you learn from the instructions for use with Lyoton ointment? With the parallel use of heparin and oral anticoagulants, there is a possibility of an increase in prothrambin time.
Mixing Lyoton and other external preparations is prohibited.
Concurrent use with antihistamines, tetracycline antibiotics and NSAIDs is contraindicated.
Recommendations for use
As the instructions for Lyoton ointment indicate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate and methyl p-hydroxybenzoate are among the auxiliary components. In this regard, this medication should not be used in patients with a diagnosed allergic reaction to parabens.
It is important for patients with hemorrhagic symptoms to carefully evaluate the feasibility of using Lyoton.
It is forbidden to use the drug if the patient has bleeding and purulent skin lesions. Do not apply Lyoton to the skin around the eyes, any mucous membranes, open wounds and infected skin. It is important to avoid contact with eyes.
If the patient has a violation of hemocoagulation, it is recommended to abandon the use of the drug on large areas of the skin. If Lyoton is used for the treatment of phlebitis, rubbing the gel into the skin is contraindicated.
To date, there is not enough data on the use of Lyoton in children, and therefore the use of a gel in this category of patients is not recommended.
The medication does not cause effects on the ability to drive vehicles, motor and mental activity does not slow down.
This is confirmed by the instruction.
Analogs of Lyoton
The following medicines are structural analogues, that is, generics: “Heparin”, “Trombless”, “Laventum”, “Heparin-Akrigel”.
The following drugs have a similar mechanism of action: Troxevasin Neo, Trombless Plus, Venabos, Kontraktubeks, Dolobene, Hepatrombin, Heparoid Zentiva, Heparin Ointment, Venolife, Venitan forte".
The most popular analogues of Russian production are: “Heparin ointment”, “Heparin-Akrigel”, “Heparin”.
The average cost of analogues starts from 35 rubles. At about the same price, you can buy the Russian “Heparin ointment” in a tube of 25 grams.
Lyoton and its cheap counterpart, Heparin Ointment, are direct anticoagulants. Their main effect - antithrombotic - is based on the suppression of thrombin. The main active component of Lyoton is sodium heparin, which is contained in the heparin ointment in a much lower concentration (about 10 times). However, “Heparin Ointment”, along with sodium heparin, contains the antiplatelet agent benzyl nicotinate and benzocaine, which is a local anesthetic with a wide spectrum of effects. When assessing the effectiveness of these two drugs, patients report approximately the same effect, and therefore the decisive factor in choosing a drug is its cost - Heparin Ointment is an order of magnitude cheaper than Lioton. The instruction does not contain such information.
Pregnancy Use
Experts admit the possibility of using the gel during pregnancy and lactation, but there should be significant evidence.
Most often, when prescribing Lioton to pregnant women, a certain treatment regimen is used - the gel should be used in a course lasting 1 month, then you need to take a month off, and repeat the course of use. And so throughout the pregnancy, and sometimes after it.
It is important to carefully conduct the first application of the drug, as the woman’s body during pregnancy is more susceptible to various allergens, and therefore the risk of developing an allergic reaction increases sharply.
When such unpleasant symptoms as burning, itching and redness appear, a woman should refuse to use Lyoton and consult a doctor.
Reviews of women about the use of a medicinal product during pregnancy are mixed. Some note a complete lack of effect from the use of "Lyoton" for several months, others report effectiveness after several applications.
Cost
The average cost of the drug in Russian pharmacies depends on the amount of funds in the tube, as well as on the price policy of the pharmacy in which it is sold. So, a tube of 50 grams can be purchased for about 450 rubles, a tube of 100 grams - for 700 rubles, a tube of 30 grams - for 350 rubles.
Reviews
A high average rating of the drug on specialized Internet resources allows us to judge the high efficiency of Lyonton.
The gel, due to its high saturation with heparin, prevents the occurrence of such an unpleasant cosmetic defect as spider veins, eliminates soreness and swelling, and relieves heaviness in the legs. The effectiveness of the gel in the treatment of sprains and injuries was noted.
Many women consider Lyoton the only salvation for leg fatigue at the end of the day.
One of the positive qualities of Lyoton is the possibility of its use during pregnancy. Women note that the drug is effective against stagnation of blood, thrombophlebitis, severe swelling, fatigue. In addition, against the background of its use, the tone of the walls of the vessels significantly increases.
Negative reviews of Lyoton are also available. Most often they are left by those patients who did not see a positive effect with prolonged use of the drug. In such cases, experts constantly repeat that Lyoton does not treat varicose veins, but is only a supportive tool.
To achieve a noticeable effect, the therapy of varicose veins should be comprehensive, and the use of Lyoton should be supplemented by swimming, walking, a contrast shower and wearing special compression hosiery.
