In the center of Europe is a small but very picturesque country - Belarus. This republic is known to its neighbors as the “bulbashow” state (in translation from the melodic and beautiful language of this nation, the bulba is a potato, which is considered a national dish). In addition, in all of Europe there is hardly any other country where, throughout its existence, leadership is carried out by one person unchanged. Since the formation of the independent state of Belarus, he has been ruled by the unchangeable leader A. G. Lukashenko.
A miniature country can also be proud of its cultural figures. Marc Chagall, Vasil Bykov, Zdislav Stomma, Vladimir Korotkevich, Neil Gilevich, Ivan Shamyakin and many others - these people deserve a corner of memory in the heart of every Belarusian. Their work was not a momentary fashion trend, as is happening at this time, they worked with the soul, and each of them put all of himself into his work, without a trace and hesitation.
A huge influence on all military literature was made by the prose of such a magnificent author as Vasil Bykov. Surprisingly, as a Belarusian and a lover of quality literature, I never forget the burden in the hands of copies of books by this author. Tears, pain and trembling hands when turning pages - not all the feelings that I had to endure while burying the next hero in paper binding.
You might think that Vasil Bykov specifically created tragedies - no. Absolutely not. He wanted to tell his readers the whole truth about the war, whatever it was - heavy, black, deadly and smelling of blood, but still it was true. The writer wanted to convey to every reader the pain of loss and the joy of the meetings experienced by ordinary citizens of Belarus and the entire Soviet Union, faced with a terrible "beast" with the short name "war".

A huge number of stories described in the books of the Belarusian playwright are based on real events. Gathering information bit by bit, recording the memories of the participants in the war and remembering clearly his war years, Vasil Bykov presented the world with masterpieces, each of which was truly unique. “Obelisk”, “Love me, soldier”, “Creek Cry”, “Alpine ballad”, “Badge of trouble”, “Wolf pack” and many others are not just regular books that force Belarusian students to read in literature lessons - these are part of the story, this is a huge guide on how to survive and how to survive.

Courage and honor, valor and uncharted inner strength, kindness and gentleness, a crystal clear heart open to faith, hope and love - these are the characteristics inherent in the positive characters of almost every novelist's work. However, at the same time, Bykov Vasily Vladimirovich pays great attention to negative characters, their motivation, characterization of actions and description of their inner world. It shows how a person, depending on changing habitual conditions, can change the pattern of his behavior. Who, like a chameleon, is adapting to new, sometimes terrible, conditions, and who is doing everything possible to change them. Sometimes a writer twists the storyline in such a way that getting to the truth is not so easy. A good character, who has become bad, and bad, who has switched to the good side - such lines pass in many novels by Vasil Bykov.
This is an author who cannot be said a little. This is a man with a capital letter. He was not afraid to show all the dirt and pain through which people passed, in whose eyes the fire of war blazed with red flame. This is a writer who is no longer there. This is Vasil Bykov, whose biography, like many of his works, is permeated with sad notes of military events. A big bow to him and many thanks for his work!
