Favorite Role

One of the performances, which was staged by Andrei Dennikov at the S. Obraztsov Puppet Theater, is Nizhinsky, the Crazy Clown of God. He also played a major role in it. The play was created based on the diaries of V. Nezhinsky and the play by G. Blamstein. The role of this great dancer was the most beloved for A. Dennikov. The personality of Vaclav captivated the director after reading a book about him and his diaries. Andrei wanted to make a performance about this ingenious man. And A. Dennikov decided that this should not be an ordinary production, but as strange as V. Nizhinsky himself was. According to Andrei, he was an angel on earth, and therefore did not fit into the world around him, just as V. Mozart, S. Yesenin did in his time. This performance is not only about the talent and complex life of a genius. He is also about slavery. Artists always become slaves to the art they serve. And that is the problem. V. Nizhinsky was dependent on ballet and on S. Diaghilev. Wenceslas's wife depended on her love for him. And in return, she did not receive from him what she expected. But V. Nizhinsky is not to blame for the fact that she lacked his love. For him, the main thing is art. He does not live up to his wife's expectations because he is a slave to ballet and cannot give her more attention. Here everyone is to blame and at the same time no one is to blame for anything.
There is something to think about in this performance.
