Curious youth technotriller "Nerve" as a modern work of the film industry is more relevant than ever. Finally, in Hollywood drew attention to the fact that young people almost completely "went" to the Internet.
Most believable
The director’s tandem of Henry Just and Eriel Shulman seriously made his name in 2010, submitting to the public a documentary called “How I was friends on a social network”. The basis of the picture was the study of sophisticated inventions of users of social networks who came up with a parallel life on the Internet. After the directors took part in the creation of the third and fourth parts of the “Paranormal phenomenon”, not forgetting the attractive dangers of the World Wide Web. Their new feature film “Nerve” (front-end actors: E. Roberts, E. Mead, and D. Franco) is based on the eponymous literary opus Gene Ryan. The tape is dedicated to what young people are ready to do for the sake of “likes”. The picture of Just and Shulman is far from the first film project on this burning topic, but the most believable.
Starring
In accordance with the genre policy, the creators of the youth thriller invited exclusively young and little-known actors to the roles of leading characters, though with some exceptions. They became the performer of the role of the main character - Tikhoni Vee, constantly led by provocation, the American model and actress Emma Roberts. If we compare her professional experience with the rest of the participants in the film “Nerve”, the actors performing other roles were not so often shot in feature films. The daughter of the famous actor Eric Roberts gained fame after the role of Eddie Singer in the television series "Netakaya". Later, Julia Roberts' niece starred in many different genres of films, for example, “Scream 4”, “Tear”, “We are the Millers”. Emma did not shy away from working on the creation of series, the most famous projects with her participation are “American Horror Story” and “Scream Queen”. The actors of the film “Nerve” highly appreciated her professionalism and often turned to Emma for advice.

Girlfriend with friend
Roberts screen partners were Emily Mead and Dave Franco. The role of the demoniac girlfriend of the main character, ready for the sake of likes and mother to sell, undoubtedly, was possible for the actress Emily Mead. Before participating in the filming of the film "Nerve", the actress starred exclusively in the series. Her track record contains well-known projects: “Abandoned”, “Underground Empire”, “Edge”, “Broad City” and others. The main actors of "Nerve" to their characters correspond only textured, in reality, unlike her heroine Emily Mead, Emma is a decent and hardworking girl.
The image of a sassy alpha male with a dark past was embodied on the screen by an American actor, producer and director Dave Franco. The performer made his debut on TV in 2006 in the project "Seventh Heaven." After he received only episodic roles in television series. Franco managed to make himself known for the first time in the TV series Clinic. The actor secured the gained mass popularity by appearing in the movies Super Peppers and Harvey Milk. He got the main role in the feature film in the film “The Illusion of Deception”, in which he starred simultaneously with the film “The Heat of Our Bodies”,
The role of the hero-antagonist was played by the white rapper Richard Baker, for whom the Nerve tape debuted. Actors in every possible way helped the musician to master the wisdom of mastery.
Acting Performance Reviews
Film critics, analyzing the demonstrated talent and professionalism of the actors involved in the production of the project, as one argued that Julia Roberts' niece and James Franco's younger brother were quite convincing, attractive and almost both pulled the picture to a decent level. But even their charisma was not enough to smooth out all the scenario flaws, especially in the second half of the tape. And there was no one to help them, since in the movie "Nerve" the actors who performed the secondary roles did not have the necessary experience. Therefore, the best episodes of the tape were scenes in which Emma and Dave play together, without an ensemble. By the way, the audience noted that Franco is delightful without a shirt, unlike Roberts, whose attractiveness does not depend on exposure.
Narrowly focused cinema
As a result, the film "Nerve" (actors and roles, script, visualization, music) is a curious example of modern cinema. This is a good, but frankly teenage thriller with charismatic performers, so it may not satisfy an adult audience.
