Why does the baby not take breasts?

Every mother tries to provide her baby with all the best. And what could be better than breastfeeding? Mother's milk cannot be compared even with the most expensive mixtures for feeding, because it contains more than four hundred and fifty trace elements that are easily digested and ensure the full development of crumbs.

Very often, young mothers face a problem when the baby does not take the breast. Do not give up and refuse to breastfeed. If you understand in time the reasons for this behavior of the baby, everything can be fixed. There are several reasons for the child's refusal to take the mother’s breasts, and in most cases they act in a complex.

One of the main reasons is the structure of the nipples of the mother, they can be too flat or retracted. In this case, the baby does not take the breast well, and this is a temporary phenomenon, as the babies quickly adapt to the physiological characteristics of the mother.

A similar reason is that the baby is taking the breasts incorrectly, because of which the milk ducts either overlap, and the baby does not receive milk, or he cannot control the speed of the milk flow and begins to choke.

The next reason is commonplace, but some mothers do not pay attention to her and continue to wonder: “Why does the baby not take her breasts?”. A baby does not eat, a baby may not be hungry, but mothers, trying to feed their child urgently, begin to offer him a bottle with a mixture or forcefully hold it near his chest, but this is not a solution to the problem.

Moreover, this behavior can lead to other problems. Babies are pretty smart and will quickly realize that milk comes out of the rubber nipple faster and needs less effort to do this. So, due to the lack of hunger in the baby, a caring mother, worrying why the baby is not taking her breasts, can provoke a rejection.

If during the birth it was not possible to avoid the use of potent painkillers, it should be borne in mind that the drugs are not removed from the body of the child for a long time, and this can cause lethargic sucking or a complete refusal of the baby to take breasts.

Difficulties can arise due to the special structure of the baby's oral cavity. A short bridle is not a serious anomaly, but it can be difficult for the baby to take breasts.

Carefully inspect the oral cavity of the newborn and check if everything is in order with the bridle and in what condition the baby's sky is. Split palate extremely complicates breastfeeding.

An oral disease such as stomatitis can cause pain while breastfeeding, and the baby will stop taking breasts.

Watch your baby’s chest behavior. Restlessness can be caused by pain in the gastrointestinal tract. If you do not take the necessary measures, the baby may stop taking the breast.

Moms rarely refuse to play with breasts for babies, but this can cause a lot of trouble, as the baby begins to perceive the chest as a toy. This can cause lethargic sucking and, in some cases, cause breast failure.

But sometimes situations arise when only an experienced pediatrician can determine the true reason why the baby does not take breasts. If you have considered all the described refusal options, but none are suitable, you should consult a doctor for qualified help.

Whatever difficulties you may encounter, do not refuse to breast-feed. With a little effort, you will undoubtedly cope with this, albeit difficult, task, and as a reward you will receive a strong, healthy, harmoniously developing, cheerful and active baby. And what could be more important for a mother than the health of her child?
