Calcium Hypochlorite

Calcium hypochlorite is a powder that has a color from white to light brown. This substance is non-combustible, but in contact with oils or dusty products may cause oxidation and fire.

Calcium Hypochlorite - Application

It is used as a disinfectant if it is necessary to disinfect clothes, dishes, patient discharge, cleaning equipment and other equipment. Calcium hypochlorite is also used to disinfect pool water, drinking and waste water. In industry, it is used to bleach cellulose and fabrics.

The solution of this drug acts on the bacteria of tuberculosis, as well as on the causative agents of cholera, plague, it has not only bactericidal, but also fungicidal, sporocidal and virucidal effects.

If calcium hypochlorite is stored in barrels, then the shelf life is 3 years, and if in plastic bags, then only twelve months. After the solution has been prepared, it retains its qualities for 14 days and should be in a dark dish with a tight lid.

Keep this product away from direct sunlight and acidic fumes, the room should be dry, unheated and well ventilated.

The use of calcium hypochlorite

These solutions are used instead of bleach and DTSGK if it is necessary to disinfect various secretions and objects in places of infectious diseases, as well as if it is necessary to disinfect certain objects. The process can be carried out in different ways, it can be irrigation, and rubbing objects with a rag, and soaking them, the main thing is that their condition does not deteriorate with the selected processing method.

Any painted items and underwear, as well as metal products that do not have an anti-corrosion coating, cannot be treated with a solution of calcium hypochlorite.

The specified substance is used in such cases:

- if necessary, decontamination of wooden furniture or premises is carried out their irrigation. The dosage is 1% of active chlorine per 300-500 ml / sq. m and left for an hour, after which it is necessary to ventilate everything well;

- if it is necessary to disinfect a rag or other material used during cleaning, then it is simply soaked in this solution and also kept for one hour;

- for disinfecting dishes, it is immersed for an hour in a solution of 0.25% -1% active chlorine. One set of dishes needs about 1.5 liters of solution and after that everything is very thoroughly washed with water, best flowing;

- All sanitary equipment, including toilets and bathtubs, must be plentifully irrigated twice with a 1% disinfectant solution;

- in order to disinfect food debris or liquid secretions, they must be poured with a 1: 1 solution and allowed to stand for some time, then removed, the night dishes should also be washed well with water;

- if it is necessary to disinfect the soil or asphalt, they are watered with a 1% solution of approximately 1.5 liters per square meter.

The first hypochlorite, which was used in industrial production, is potassium hypochlorite, it is part of "javelic water" and has been used to bleach tissues and cellulose since XVIII.

Precautions While Using Calcium Hypochlorite

When carrying out such work, the use of safety glasses, a respirator, a protective apron and rubber gloves is mandatory . Without the availability of personal protective equipment, any work with the specified solution is strictly prohibited.

If it was allowed to get this substance on the skin or on the mucous membranes, then these places should be rinsed immediately with plenty of running water.
