Irifrin: Description

This is an analogue of Mesaton in Russia in terms of ophthalmology. The composition includes phenylephrine hydrochloride and auxiliary components. When it is exposed, the dilator of the pupil (dilator muscle) and the smooth muscles of the conjunctiva contract. As a result, the pupils dilate. The effect occurs within an hour, and lasts from two to seven hours, depending on the percentage of phenylephrine (2.5% or 10%). Irifrin is used for:

  • diagnosis of eye diseases that require dilated pupils;
  • prevention of posterior synechia (adhesions) and weakening of exudation in the iris (iridocyclitis);
  • identification of possible angle-closure glaucoma;
  • preoperative pupil preparation;
  • the treatment of glaucomyclic crises;
  • diagnosis of deep or superficial injection of the eye;
  • laser operations at the bottom of the eye;
  • red eye syndrome;
  • allergies and colds, to relieve swelling of the mucous membranes of the eyes and nose.

Contraindications and side effects "Irifrina"

Like Mesaton, analogues have their contraindications; for Irifrin, these are:

  • hypersensitivity to the components;
  • glaucoma (narrow-angle, closed-angle);
  • arterial hypertension;
  • tachycardia;
  • diabetes;
  • aneurysm;
  • hyperthyroidism, thyrotoxicosis;

Contraindicated in case of allergies, glaucoma (narrow-angle or closed-angle), cardiovascular system disorders, hyperthyroidism, and liver porphyria. It is undesirable to use people of advanced age. A solution of 10% is not used for children under 12 years of age, 2.5% - with reduced body weight. It is not advisable to use during pregnancy and lactation.

Side effects of "Vistosana"

The analogues containing phenylephrine, as well as Mesaton, have similar side effects: blurred vision, irritation, burning, lacrimation, rarely reactive myosis, cardiac dysfunction (tachycardia, arrhythmia, and in rare cases, myocardial infarction).

For ophthalmoscopy, a solution of 2.5% - 1 drop is used, if necessary, a long-term effect after an hour, the procedure is repeated in the same dosage. With iridocyclitis - 1 drop 2-3 times a day of a solution of 2.5 or 10%. For the treatment of glaucoma-cyclical crises use a solution of 10% 2-3 times a day.

Neosinephrine-POS

Another ophthalmic analogue of Mesaton in Russia is Neosinephrine-POS. The active ingredient is phenylephrine hydrochloride. Available in the form of 5% and 10% eye drop solutions. For the diagnosis of diseases, the used dose of the drug is 1 drop of 5% solution, after an hour, repetition is allowed for a longer effect. If the pupil is not dilated enough, 10% solution is allowed.

Mesaton analogue in Russia

In case of an overdose, nervousness, sweating, dizziness, tachycardia, vomiting, and anxiety may occur. Pharmacological properties are the same as for analogues containing phenidephrine.

Adrianol

The Russian analogue of Mesaton in the treatment of the common cold is Adrianol. Release form - nasal drops with plastic dropper bottles. The active ingredients are tramazoline hydrochloride and phenylephrine hydrochloride. It has a vasoconstrictive and decongestant effect on the nasal mucosa when applied topically. As a result, nasal breathing is facilitated, pressure in the middle ear and sinuses is reduced. Due to its viscous consistency, it has a long action. It is indicated for use in acute and chronic rhinitis, sinusitis, and also as an adjunct in the preparation of operations and diagnostics for relieving edema.

"Nazol Kids" is available in the form of a spray, the allowable dosage is 2-3 sprays every 4 hours. Used for children from the age of six.

The drug "Mesaton" analogues and substitutes are available even for infants. This is “Nazol Baby” in the form of nasal drops with the active substance phenylephrine in 0.125% solution. This content of the component provides safety for the baby’s delicate mucosa.
