Plot

At the beginning of the film Crimean landscapes are shown. Tolya and Zoya come to the Crimea, here they meet with a doctor Dmitry Pavlovich and his wife Vera Ivanovna. The relationship of these people, as it seems to the protagonists, is ideal. They lived together for many years, have three children, complete understanding reigns in their family.

Tolya and Zoe are leaving. It turns out that the doctor is married to a completely different woman, although she truly loves Vera Ivanovna all her life. On New Year's Eve, a woman receives a telegram from Crimean acquaintances: Tolya and Zoya are going to come. The doctor and his lover do not want to destroy the illusion of happiness. They decide to play the roles of happy spouses again.
