Heart Pain - Causes and Treatment

The causes of heart pain can be very different. There are non-hazardous pains that can simply be endured, and there are pains that are not tolerated to be tolerated, they should be removed immediately. How to find out? To do this, you must undergo a medical examination at the slightest doubt, without waiting for complications.

Pain in the left side of the chest.

If we have chest pain on the left side, first of all we think about the heart. But these heart pain symptoms are often not related to the heart itself. It’s just that in our nervous system, nerve branches suitable for various organs depart from one trunk. Nerve branches can go to the stomach, liver, heart, etc. Therefore, with a violation in the biliary tract or diseases of the stomach, pain can also appear in the heart. Such symptoms are not relieved by cardiac drugs, but require treatment of the underlying disease. Another cause may be a nerve injury associated with the spinal cord. This happens with osteochondrosis, spinal tumors, trauma, herniated discs. These pains can go away only when treating the spine.

What are the pains in the heart?

First of all, they can be a consequence of a nervous system disease: cardioneurosis. They are constant, are aching in nature and intensify during stress. To remove them, you need to take sedatives: valerian or valocordin. But we must not forget that only a doctor can diagnose cardioneurosis and, after examination, determine why the heart hurts. With inflammation (myocarditis) of the heart muscle, aching prolonged, sometimes in combination with stitching, pains appear to the right of the sternum. During physical exertion, they usually increase, combined with shortness of breath. Perhaps a “sinking" heart and a feeling of "interruptions" in his work, malaise, weakness, sometimes a slight increase in temperature. You can’t joke with such pains, you need a long treatment. Also, pain in the heart is possible with spasms of arteries leading oxygen and nutrients to the heart muscle . These attacks are called angina pectoris, they pose a great danger and require immediate treatment.

Angina pectoris.

Attacks occur during stress or physical exertion (angina pectoris), then in a calm state (rest angina pectoris). In typical cases, such pains in the heart have a pressing and compressive character, manifesting to the left of the sternum or in its upper part. These pains can be given to the left side of the face and neck, to the left arm, shoulder blade. Sometimes a sensation is possible in the right shoulder or both arms and shoulders. Sensation can spread to the left side of the lower back and abdomen, to the legs. The onset is sudden, then the pain takes on a growing character, how long it lasts and disappears. Its action can usually be removed with nitroglycerin: it helps relieve spasm of the coronary arteries. Nitroglycerin begins to act in 1-2 minutes and provides an effect for 20-30 minutes. It should be remembered that neither validol nor corvalol with angina pectoris help. If such a picture occurs at least once, you should definitely be examined by a doctor to know clearly what needs to be done when an attack occurs.

Myocardial infarction.

With prolonged attacks of angina pectoris, the heart muscle does not receive oxygen and nutrients. It begins to collapse, its necrosis sets in, it is called myocardial infarction. It is for this reason that in no case can one endure heart pain with angina pectoris. Myocardial infarction is characterized by severe attacks of pain behind the sternum. It is already impossible to remove them with nitroglycerin. In this case, the patient will be more likely to recover if you immediately seek medical help.
