Captopril: instructions, contraindications

One of the most effective and therefore common drugs for the treatment of hypertension is Captopril. The instruction says that this is an antihypertensive drug, which is recommended for the treatment of:

  • arterial hypertension;
  • heart failure;
  • Renovascular hypertension ;
  • myocardial infarction;
  • diabetic nephropathy.

Such widespread use of the drug is associated with its ability to reduce the production of angiotensin II, which greatly constricts blood vessels, increases the concentration of beneficial potassium in the plasma. At the same time, the Captopril preparation, the instruction explains this in detail, does not affect the heart rate, but reduces the pressure.

The tablets are well absorbed in the body. In order to accelerate the onset of the action of the drug, “Captopril” is prescribed under the tongue, preferably before meals (per hour). Most captopril (95%) is excreted in the urine per day.

"Captopril", the instructions insist on this, taken exclusively on the recommendation of a doctor who selects the dosage of the drug individually. So with arterial hypertension , a quarter of the pill is most often prescribed twice a day. Subsequently, if necessary, the dose can be increased to 450 mcg per day.

It is especially important to monitor the reaction of the body during the first application. If weakness occurs or pressure drops sharply, the patient should be laid down, but treatment should not be canceled.

Who is Captopril contraindicated for? The instructions give clear instructions. The drug is prohibited for people suffering

  • impaired renal function;
  • renal artery stenosis;
  • violation of the outflow of blood from large vessels;
  • Quincke's edema;
  • pregnant, lactating;
  • excessive sensitivity to ATP drugs;
  • autoimmune diseases.

Since Captopril is a fairly powerful tool, it can cause side effects in which the drug will have to be canceled. Among the adverse reactions:

  • itching, swelling, burning;
  • impaired liver and kidney function;
  • distortion of taste and olfactory perceptions;
  • abdominal pain, accompanied by an upset stomach, sometimes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
  • the occurrence of angina pectoris;
  • myocardial infarction;
  • dizziness, pain in the temples;
  • sleep disturbance;
  • fatigue.

Involuntarily, the question arises: is the drug justified if it has so many possible side effects. It is justified, but only on the recommendation of a doctor.

Firstly, the right dose and attention to the history of complications do not cause.

Secondly, treatment should be under the supervision of specialists who can discontinue medication or quickly remove the negative effects.

In case of an overdose or the occurrence of unexpected reactions, “Captopril”, this instruction explains, is eliminated from the body by dialysis, and with a sharp drop in pressure, the composition of the liquid in the body is restored by intravenous administration of sodium chloride.

Captopril is available in tablets. Excipients in it are milk sugar, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid and corn starch. The active substance is called the same as the drug itself - captopril.

Captopril, just like its version of Captopril Acos, is available in capsule or tablet form.

The drug under this name is produced in Russia, Belarus, Jordan, India and Slovenia.

However, they have analogues that contain the same therapeutic substance, but are available in other countries. This is the "Epsitron" produced in Cyprus, the Yugoslav "Katopil".

All of these drugs have a similar effect, but can differ in the degree of purification of the active substance, a set of excipients. They are different in price.

That is why it is best to visit a doctor before replacing the drug and listen to his advice.
