What is the most famous whiskey?
Of course, the most respected adhesive tape, which is popular and recognized throughout the world, is made in Scotland. According to the laws of Scotland, local tape must be made and aged in the country. Outside of Scotland, it is allowed to bottle it, but nothing more.
Scotch whiskey is divided into three main types:
Malt (malt) is considered the highest quality, tasty and therefore expensive drink. It has an unusual and bright aroma and only its indescribable taste. It is based on malt, i.e. barley. The grain is dried over peat fire, and this is a very important stage of production. For distillation, copper cubes are used, which retain a large amount of esters in the obtained distillate. Distillation is done twice. Malt whiskey is divided into single malt, vatted / pure malt, single cask, quarter cask.
Grain (grain) is not as popular and loved as malt tape. For its preparation use corn and wheat, which are cheaper. The resulting whiskey is used mainly for the manufacture of gin or vodka. In Scotland, only one company produces this whiskey for sale as a standalone product.
The most popular adhesive tape is blended (blend). It accounts for up to 90% of all sales of adhesive tape. Malt and grain varieties are mixed in it. The higher the content of malt varieties in it, the higher the quality and price. Individual premium blends can consist of malt whiskeys obtained from 30 or more distilleries, at 60-70%. The most common is blended adhesive tape of the standart blend class, which consists of only 10-15% of malt varieties.
Bourbon - the most favorite drink in the USA
The USA is the largest market for whiskey. Irish and Scottish immigrants brought the technology for making Scotch tape to the States with them. Although the production of bourbon is somewhat different from the traditional, and the main difference is that it has a cereal base. Bourbon is made from corn. This cereal is easy to grow, it is unpretentious and much cheaper than barley.
Thus, bourbon is a beverage that is made in the United States from cereals. Grain content should be strictly within 51-80%. The use of dyes and flavors is not allowed and is strictly regulated by law. Aging is carried out only in burnt oak barrels. Reuse of these barrels is prohibited.
The story of bourbon begins in the 18th century when pastor Baptist Edia Craig built his distillery on the Kentucky River. After he received the first batch of the product, he decided to market it in New Orleans. However, certain transportation problems appeared. Only barrels in which fish used to be transported were at hand. The priest ordered to burn them from the inside to remove the taste and persistent smell of fish. After that, whiskey was poured into the barrels, and the name "Bourbon. Kentucky" was displayed on the side. In New Orleans, bourbon was immediately sold out. On the way, he managed to acquire an unusual, vibrant taste, which was liked by lovers of spirits. The very name "bourbon" appeared, most likely, in honor of the county of Bourbon (Virginia). This name was fixed at the legislative level in 1964.
