Her father was an emigrant from the United States, and her mother was a purebred Australian. However, for the film, the book was revised and modified to look like the backstory of The Lord of the Rings. In addition, characters who were not in the original were introduced into the plot. So, the queen of elves Galadriel does not appear in this story, according to the original source. But, since Cate Blanchett had excellently coped with this role earlier and really liked the audience, her character decided to add to the plot of the film "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", as well as in the other two parts. It is worth noting that initially it was not planned to stretch the story into three films, but because of the new characters and storylines, it was decided to remove the full trilogy.

In the second part of the adventures of the hobbit and his friends of the dwarves, the Australian actress had more screen time.
