There is a wonderful fabulous place for spending leisure time for children in the city of Kazan - the Tatar State Puppet Theater "Ekiyat". He is also known outside Tatarstan, as he is a participant in All-Russian and International festivals.
Puppet Theater (Kazan). History of the beginning of the development of the theater, first productions
Over the 76-year history of the theater, more than 320 productions have been performed.
In 1924 small puppet groups began to appear. However, they diverged, then re-organized due to the fact that at that time they did not have the status of a theater.
1931 - the beginning of the construction of puppet theaters. In 1934, after the opening (1931) of the S.V. Obraztsov Theater (Moscow), a puppet theater under the direction of S.M. Merzlyakov was opened in Kazan on the basis of an ordinary amateur group at the House of Pioneers.
The repertoire of the newly created theater was based on the play “Homeless Parsley”.
Soon, the repertoire of this progressive group of energetic young people who love their job was replenished with wonderful performances: “The Montgolfier Brothers”, “The Gosling”, “Kashtanka” and many others. The first national production appeared - the fairy tale “The Goat and the Sheep” (G. Tukai )
In 1937, this puppet theater won the honorary prize place of the All-Union Puppet Theater Show of the USSR. Kazan has chosen the right path in the cultural education of children.
In 1939, the theater was headed by a young promising actor Salyah Husni.
In difficult wartime, the situation was aggravated by the fact that the male part of the troupe was reduced due to mobilization to the front. Almost all days of the war, the troupe toured to assembly points, performed for evacuated children, traveled to districts to maintain people's morale.
Post-war time, new victories
Everything was - and disorder with the room, and cramped. The director of the theater of that time A.P. Yurusov nevertheless achieved the premises, and in 1959 a new page in the life of the theater opened. On this day, the artists showed the audience "Pinocchio."
At the competition of children's plays (All-Russian) in 1962, the play “Song of Happiness” based on the play by N. Dauli was recognized as the best and was awarded the 1st degree Diploma. Puppet Theater (Kazan) demonstrated achievements in its development.
In the 60s, the main director of the theater was I. Moskalev, who began to pay more attention to plays for adults: “The Bold Tale” (about the Boy-Kibalchish), “The Blind Paddy”, “The Divine Comedy”, etc. The main audience - children - got less.
And in 1968, the "Little Prince" appeared. He changed the idea of drama for children. It became possible to present children's plays with philosophical content.
At that time, the leadership of the puppet theater had almost completely changed, and the troupe was updated almost half.
Theater Updates
In 1966, a puppet acting department was opened at the Theater School of Kazan.
The time has come for a game beginning in the puppet art of the theater. All this is due to the emergence of directors and actors of a new generation.
In those years, performances were presented: The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen, Alladin, and many others.
An important role in the positive update was played by L. A. Dyachenko, who received a good director's school in the workshop of S. V. Obraztsov at the higher courses of directors in Moscow at the Theater Institute. Lunacharsky.
After staging the play “Eyes of a Snake” (I. Zinnurov), the Kazan Theater was recognized as one of the leading theaters in the whole country.
And in 1974, the theater was admitted to UNIMA, due to which there was creative growth and the theater entered the international arena.
In the 1980s, the theater presented many simple good children's tales: “Teremok”, “Goat-Dereza”, “Winnie the Pooh”, etc. In a difficult period for the country, the theater was headed by R. Yapparova. She still successfully leads its team, which has the status of "Tatar State Puppet Theater" Ekiyat "".
The puppet theater is constantly replenishing and updating its composition. Kazan has an amazing modern cultural children's institution, which continues its natural process of development and growth.
Opening of the fairytale castle
In 2012, the new building of the Ekiyat children's puppet theater was opened. It is an amazing fairytale castle with colorful bright turrets and sculptures, figures of fairy - tale heroes, which are presented to the children's eyes as alive. And over the main entrance to the theater are huge operating hours.
The magic castle turned out to be very bright, kind and sunny - a fantastic idea embodied by architects and builders to the delight of children and even adults. The building is beautiful both day and night, and in summer and winter. At night, it is illuminated by an amazing bewitching fairytale light. And in winter, ice figures of fairy-tale heroes are arranged near the theater.
Everyone who has a child should try to visit Kazan, the puppet theater. The repertoire poster is diverse and today represents more than 40 productions.

The atmosphere of the theater
Inside the theater, the atmosphere is also bright and unusual. Comfortable soft seats in the form of fabulous royal thrones, a scene in the form of a glass palace attract attention.
The puppets in the theater are the most diverse - classic and modern in modern style.
The spacious theater building has two halls with beautiful lighting: a small (100 seats), given to the Tatar troupe, and a large (256 seats) - for the Russian troupe.
The building is huge, but bewitching with magical beauty, as if from a fairy tale.
