Biography of Vladimir Pokrovsky

The actor was born in 1901, on June 23 according to the new style, or on July sixth according to the old, in a rather prosperous family. His parents were engaged in leatherwork. Being already at a conscious age (thirty years old), Vladimir was enrolled in a school at the Yevgeny Bagrationovich Vakhtangov Theater. During his undergraduate studies, he played the roles of Antonio from “Much Ado About Nothing,” Emil from “Intervention,” Michelle Crestien from “Human Comedy”.

Four years later, Pokrovsky completed his studies and in 1935 was accepted into the troupe of the same theater. He worked there until 1985 and was considered one of the best actors in the troupe.

Vladimir Pokrovsky did not leave the theater even during the war. He played in the front-line brigade, raising the morale of soldiers and members of the rear.

In the production of the cycle of Isaac Babel, he played a supporting role - Kuma Mironycha. In 1975, the television version of this performance saw the light. There is also a radio show "Conarmia".

In the production of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky’s novel “Idiot”, he played the role of official Lukyan Lebedev. In 1979, a television version was also released.

Vladimir Pokrovsky was married. The wife's name was Tatyana Borisovna, she was engaged in household work. In 1938 a couple was born a son, the boy was named Alexander. He decided to follow in his father's footsteps and also chose acting.

Alexander Pokrovsky graduated from the Schukin School, served in the Lenin Komsomol Theater, and was engaged in directing on central television.
