Lean cakes

Dinner on Christmas Eve is a special meal, and it is customary to prepare special dishes for this occasion. Many dieticians advise to adhere to the traditions of our ancestors and on the eve of this holiday to cook exclusively lean meat. After all, these dishes are a source of minerals and vitamins that enhance health, strength and support our immunity.

And one of such tasty and healthy dishes is lean cakes, the recipe for which is very simple. There are a lot of variations of this dish; it is present in almost all national cuisines. In order to prepare delicious lean cakes, you will need the following ingredients: 500 grams of flour, 30 grams of baking powder, salt, 50 grams of sugar, 200 ml of warm water, vinegar, 50 ml of oil.

Mix all dry foods - flour, soda, granulated sugar and salt. In a separate container, combine all the liquid ones - water, oil and vinegar. Quickly combine the “dry” and “liquid” mixtures, the dough will immediately begin to puff and fit. Everything must be done strictly according to the recipe, otherwise the product may turn out to be too rigid or vice versa loose.

Lenten cakes on brine

Ingredients: a glass of sugar, 250 grams of brine, 15 grams of soda, flour, 300 grams of vegetable oil.

Mix all ingredients thoroughly and knead the dough to a thick consistency. Spread the dough with a tablespoon on a baking sheet previously lined with baking paper. Put in the oven. Baking time - 30 minutes.

Potato Tortilla Recipe

Having tried these lean cakes with potatoes once, you cannot deny yourself the pleasure of cooking them not only in fasting. To prepare such a dish, the following ingredients are required: 0.5 kg of flour, 2 potato tubers, 200 ml of water, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, one carrot, one onion, 1 teaspoon of soda, vegetable oil.

Mix flour with soda, add a glass of cold water to them, mix everything quickly. After knead the soft dough and make it into a ball, sprinkle with flour and place in the refrigerator to cool. In the meantime, wash, peel and grate the potatoes and carrots. Peel, wash and chop onions. Heat sunflower oil in a pan, put grated potatoes, carrots, onions, pepper, salt and fry until potatoes are ready. Take out the dough, divide it into 8 equal parts, from which roll small cakes. Then spread the filling into cakes, fasten the edges together and flatten a little, distributing the filling. Carefully roll out and fry in hot oil.

Cornmeal Dietary Tortilla Recipe

These meatless dough products are called mchadi; they are cooked simply and quickly. You will need the following ingredients: 450 grams of cornmeal, vegetable oil, 300 ml of hot water, salt.

Measure the flour and place it in a bowl, salt. Pre-boiled water, gently, in small portions, pour into flour, stirring constantly. Knead the dough and still hot divide it into 6 portions, mold small cakes and fry on both sides.

Lean Flat Bean Recipe

Ingredients: 550 grams of flour for dough, 1 teaspoon of yeast, 30-40 grams of flour for rolling dough, 400 ml of water, 4 tbsp. tablespoons of oil, salt, 3 teaspoons of sugar, canned beans, garlic, olive oil, dry coriander, wine vinegar and hot pepper.

Dissolve the yeast in half a glass of warm water, add a little flour to them, mix. Leave the dough in a warm place. Meanwhile, mix with the mixer the remaining ingredients - water, salt, flour, sugar, vegetable oil. Combine the resulting mixture with the suitable yeast, knead the dough not too steep and leave for an hour. While the dough is infused, you need to prepare the filling. Heat beans with liquid, drain the liquid and mash to a puree condition. Gradually add olive oil and a little water or vegetable broth, add garlic, red pepper, vinegar, dry coriander. Divide the finished dough into 6 identical parts that need to be rolled out a little, put the filling on them, pinch the edges. Turn the resulting bags down with the fastener and roll them to a thickness of 0.8-1.0 cm. Fry each side for 3-5 minutes in vegetable oil.
