One of the well-known oriental sweets is churchkhela. Its calorie content, however, bothers many, especially women who are on diets, but even they risk treating themselves to a tempting treat on vacation. And considering that all its components are exclusively natural, it is tempting to offer dessert to children: there are less and less different kinds of chemistry introduced into an immature organism. The plus of delicacies can be considered the accessibility of its independent manufacture, since it is not only possible to make churchkhela at home, but also relatively simple. True, no doubt, you have to wait until she, as it were, ripens. So, having decided to serve a treat, the term of its readiness should be planned for the holiday, which will be put off two months into the future.
Churchkhela: the calorie content that they fear
We must say right away that there are a great many varieties of goodies. And the Mingrelian sweetness will differ, for example, from the Imeretian one, not only in appearance and composition, but also in nutritional value. However, it will be churchkhela anyway. The calorie content of the dessert varies, but the minimum remains within 410 kcal per every 100 grams of goodies. Moreover, calories are in an easily digestible form, so they will almost completely go into your body. No wonder in ancient times, churchkhela was given to warriors as a food supply: its advantages were not only a long shelf life, but also the nutritional value that could support the fighter's strength after a long transition. Churchkhela is hardly suitable for those who are strict about nutrition and counting each calorie - the calorie content of the product is too high. But you can give her children to school with you, and they obviously will not happen a hungry faint.
Why is churchkhela good?
The treat contains juice and nuts, sometimes replaced with dried fruits. Its composition determines all the properties that churchkhela has: the benefits and harms go hand in hand and are explained by the same factors. First, the pros.
- The natural origin makes the sweet absolutely safe ecologically: it does not contain dyes, sweeteners or preservatives.
- The high content of various sugars among those who consume churchkhela increases working capacity and makes thinking clearer.
- Churchkhela includes a huge amount of vitamins, minerals and minerals; eating it makes taking artificial drugs unnecessary.
- The digestion of those who enjoy churchkhela improves markedly. The same can be said about the stability of the cardiac system.
The nutritiousness of goodies makes it almost indispensable in restoring the body weakened by any factors - we recall the ancient warriors and are convinced of this without additional evidence.
Who should avoid churchkhela
However, like another healthy product, mountain dainty is by no means recommended to everyone. At risk include:
- overweight: from eating churchkhela it will only increase;
- diabetics, which are contraindicated for all grape derivatives;
- people with severe renal impairment;
- severe tuberculosis patients;
- allergy sufferers should approach churchkhe carefully and for the first time limit themselves to a small piece of it: reactions to it are quite common; for the same reason, it is better to refuse this delicacy to the bearing children and nursing mothers.
Do-it-yourself delicacy
And now we will figure out how to make churchkhela in the conditions of native cuisine. You must admit that not everyone in the vicinity of the house has a real Georgian who makes it for sale. But I want to feast on something.
- A strong thread and a thick gypsy needle are taken. Nuts are strung on a rope (originally walnuts).
- In a small amount of self-squeezed grape juice, a glass of flour is kneaded to a limitless state, filtered and poured into a container with the bulk of the juice (there should be a liter in total).
- On a quiet fire, the mass is boiled until the color changes to a rich burgundy.
- If the grapes are acidic, 5-6 tablespoons of sugar are dissolved in the juice, although this is not according to the rules.
- Each string of nuts is held by a loop and dipped in syrup. Properly brewed, it will practically not drain from the βbeadsβ.
Dipping should be repeated several times, after drying the previous layer - so the wrapper on nuts will be thick. After the threads are hung in the kitchen, and after a week you can already begin testing. In the East they can withstand 2-3 months, but hardly anyone will have so much patience to wait.
Alternative cooking methods
Churchkhela at home can be prepared from pomegranate juice - it will be very useful for blood diseases and in the recovery period.
Instead of walnuts, you can take any others, as well as raisins, dried apricots, prunes, dried figs.
If there is no natural grape or pomegranate juice , you can replace it with strawberry or cherry syrup, it will work no worse.
