The Kramskoy Museum (Voronezh) was created in 1933 under the name of the Museum of Fine Arts. Its basis was the union of art collections of the Museum of Antiquities and Fine Arts and the Provincial Museum. The modern name in honor of the Voronezh artist Kramskoy was approved in 1984.

During the Great Patriotic War, the palace building was badly damaged by fire. Its restoration took several years and ended only in 1953. The project was led by architect G. Zdebchinsky. He tried to keep the original appearance of the palace as much as possible.

In 1984, in order to expand the exhibition space, another hall was added to the north side of the building.

Currently, the Kramskoy Museum (Voronezh) not only stores and exhibits examples of ancient culture, but conducts research work, conducts educational events, and participates in the country's cultural events.
