This article is not dedicated to the creative activities of the famous French storyteller Charles Perrot, but his magnificent tale of eternal love, devotion, human kindness and hard work. She does not know language and age barriers. The beautiful fairy tale "Cinderella" is timeless. She is being screened by leading television studios of the world, music is dedicated to her. She inspired more than one composer to create wonderful music. Is the staging of Sergei Prokofiev’s ballet on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater not brilliant? With bated breath you listen to the plays of Joacchino Rossini, Eugene Schwartz, the operas of D. Steinbelt, N. Izuar, E. Wolf-Ferrari and Jules Massenet. There are no superfluous words, only music revealing the whole gamut of human feelings and aspirations. This story knows no end; it is immortal, like all universal human values. Kilometers of captured films immortalized her in feature films, cartoons and theatrical productions. Films about Cinderella are equally interesting for both children and adults.
"Cinderella" - a film from our childhood
Each generation has its own Cinderella, an evil stepmother and lazy sisters. They are the epitome of their era. Who doesn’t know the black-and-white Cinderella tape of 1947? With undisguised interest and delight, the kids of three generations are watching it. Well, how can you not be surprised when a kind sorceress comes to visit you and with just a wave of a magic wand turns you into a princess, little cherevichki into crystal shoes, and a pumpkin into a gilded carriage.
The idea of creating this wonderful film belonged to the famous theater director Nikolai Pavlovich Akimov. A friendly, creative team (with screenwriter Eugene Schwartz and director Nadezhda Koshevarova) they managed to create an unforgettable film in which there is a place for good humor and evil satire. The miniature Yanina Zheimo in the role of Cinderella, once having struck a child’s imagination, settles in it forever. With what femininity, lightness and grace she played this role. The fervent song “Become children, become in a circle ...” was loved by our grandmothers and mothers.
However, few people know that she owes her popularity to the performer - Lyubov Chernina. How brilliant in the role of her stepmother was the irresistible and beloved Faina Ranevskaya. Inimitable humor, irony and catchphrases made her character unique. Who does not remember her sacramental phrase: "It's a pity, the kingdom is not enough, I have nowhere to roam." The eccentric king, performed by Erast Garin, who is ready to go to the monastery every time, or the sincere page boy, whose words (“I'm not a magician, I'm just learning”) can rightfully be called winged.
Color version of Cinderella
The best proof of the legendary nature of this picture is the fact that in 1967 the film "Cinderella" (1947) was reanimated at the Mosfilm film studio. And in 2009, a color version of this film was created on television screens, created in collaboration with the Lenfilm-video studio, the Krupny Plan company, and the American studio Legends Film.
Nostalgia for the past
Films about Cinderella become favorite in every family. In 1949, Walt Disney Pictures created a beautiful cartoon film adaptation of Charles Perrault's fairy tale Cinderella. It was followed by full-length sequels: the animated films Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True (1949, The Walt Disney Company) and Cinderella 3: Evil Spells (2002, The Walt Disney Company). The unique animation, colorful images, interesting storyline made these cartoons best sellers in the world of animation.
The hand-drawn Soviet cartoon "Cinderella", which was created at the Soyuzmultfilm studio in 1979, becomes a beautiful new version of this story. With special warmth and lyricism, Ivan Aksenchuk transferred the classic work of Charles Perrault to the screen. A special place in the cartoon is given to musical design. Perfectly fitting into the outline of the story, the music touches to the depths of the soul, emphasizing the full power of feelings and emotions.
Eternal dreams, real problems
Many people probably remember the romantic movie "Three Nuts for Cinderella." The premiere of this film took place on November 1, 1973. The popular film was the result of the creative work of the Czechoslovak film studio Barrandov and the German film studio Babelsberg. The tale "Three Sisters" by Bozhena Nemtsova was the basis for the script of the film. Unique in beauty shooting took place in such castles as Moritzburg (Germany), Lednice (Czechoslovakia) and the picturesque place of Sumava.
Miracles in this film happened without the participation of the fairy godmother. The magic hazel has become a source of magic. Libushe Shafrankova at the age of 19 played her first role - the role of Cinderella, having deservedly won popular recognition and love. Many years later, Libushe still retains the title of the best princess in the world of film production. And the indisputable fact that Pavel Travnichek in the role of a prince managed to win the hearts of almost the entire female audience only confirms the boundlessness of amateur sympathies, words that cannot be expressed.
This tale has gained popularity in many European countries. On Christmas Eve, it is traditionally shown by television in Germany, the Czech Republic and Norway. Perhaps such a high popularity of the tale lies in absolutely non-trivial things. Indeed, deep down everyone wants to share the fate of Cinderella at least for one film.
Emancipation, or the Call of Time
In 1998, cinemas again turned to the image of Cinderella. The fantasy American film "The Story of Eternal Love" is released. But only in this, freely retold tale of Charles Perrault, Cinderella has evolved noticeably. “Dream on. Go ahead. Escape ”- this is the slogan of the film. The main character, whose role was played by Drew Barrymore, already little resembles a defenseless, poor girl. Cheeky and brave - she is ready to challenge not only her stepmother, but also fate. Events unfold in France of the sixteenth century, and therefore completely unconventional and somewhere even audaciously sounds musical accompaniment - a cheerful song by the rock band "Texas". The debut of the picture took place in America, where almost two-thirds of the total box office receipts were collected. Critics did not leave the picture without attention, calling it a real feminist story. However, moviegoers graciously accepted the picture, and later the novel, the film “The History of Eternal Love” became the basis of the storyline.

Life without love is not life
As if in unison with these words, director Biben Kedron creates his modern image of Cinderella, in the role of which Marcella Plunkett starred. The television film "Cinderella" was first released on January 1, 2000 in the UK, deservedly winning, according to critics, the title of the most exciting and modern version of the tale.
It is hard to dispute the fact that twists of fate are unpredictable. Having borrowed this idea for his film, the director Gavin Millar offers his own, new and unconventional version of the fate of Cinderella. The plot was borrowed from Gregory Maguire’s short story “Cinderella: The Elder Sister Version”. And this writer, distinguished by a peculiar approach to retelling classic children's stories for an adult reader, does not have to take originality. So in the novel “Cinderella: The Elder Sister Version”, the main character Clara from a rich heiress of her father turns into Cinderella. Not without witchcraft, of course. And her new sisters from evil envious women turn into her best friends.
Look inside yourself: you are stronger than you think
The world premiere of the British-American romantic comedy "Enchanted Ella" took place on April 9, 2004. A wonderful adult tale from director Tommy O'Haver is more concerned with the fantasy genre. And therefore, do not be surprised at the mysterious world of the main character and its mysterious inhabitants: fairies and giants, trolls and elves, cannibals and giants, good people and villains. The little girl, because of the spell, becomes the owner of the gift of obedience, which, sadly, turns against her. Watching the film “Enchanted Ella”, one wonders if one wonders if we are able to cope with everything in this life and even with ourselves.
Bright and rich scenery, an unusual musical arrangement for this genre, humor inherent in the heroes create a special, unforgettable atmosphere of positive and magic. And now you are ready to hum along with Ella the funny song Somebody To Love.
Where is the truth and where is the fiction?
And this story is about a girl who believes in a fairy tale and in a prince. The only difference is that she dreams of happiness, sitting in the garage, where powerful SUVs are being trained for raids. “Cinderella 4x4. It all starts with desires ... ”- a film which premiered in 2008 in Russia. And the idea of this truly kind and bright fairy tale belongs to Alexander Barshak and Yuri Morozov.
“Cinderella” as interpreted by Uwe Janson
Although this may sound somewhat sentimental, films about Cinderella hide the unchanging richness of the human soul, the beauty and sincerity of feelings behind the external variety of images of the main character.
The German director Uwe Janson proposed his version of the tale for the whole family, bringing it as close as possible to the original version of the Brothers Grimm tale. The film "Cinderella" in 2011, the world premiere of which took place on December 25, turned out to be pretty sweet and bright: there is a place of love, justice, courage and honor. Never revenge, even to a defeated enemy - such is the main appeal of this modern fairy tale with a happy ending. The film "Cinderella" (2011) received recognition from viewers and critics.
Director Sergey Girgel's version
In 2012, director Sergei Girgel presented his version of the story of an unfortunate stepdaughter girl, an evil stepmother and a beautiful groom - the melodrama Hotel for Cinderella. You could call this story fabulous, but in fact there is always a place in life for something unusual, magical, non-trivial. And let it seem unrealistic to you, but the princes still meet. They just need to be able to learn from a thousand, from a million. “Hotel for Cinderella” is the favorite film of many women.
Old story and new twists
On February 12, 2015, at the Berlin Festival, the next film adaptation of the immortal fairy tale "Cinderella" produced by The Walt Disney Company was shown. In many ways repeating the plot of Charles Perrault's tale, the authors were able to give the plot of the film “Cinderella” (2015) a certain uniqueness and uniqueness. And the magnificent constellation of brilliant actors will not leave anyone indifferent to this new interpretation of the old love story. Cinderella (2015) does not leave the first position in the ratings of the best films.
Finally
What is the success of such an unpretentious tale? It’s no secret that Charles Perrault laid the basis for the Cinderella story in a folk tale where a person who has nothing but a dream finds everything in one moment. Such a story would hardly have the right to success. But this is not a simple retelling, but up to a certain point a realistic, reliable and to some extent social history. Pay attention to the high degree of truthfulness that Charles Perrault describes life: Cinderella had to clean the stairs and rub parquet floors, iron sisters and starch the collars. How expertly he draws the line between the position of Cinderella and her sisters.
The viewer is imbued with compassion and sympathy for the poor stepdaughter, he perceives the plot is absolutely real, forgetting about its fabulous origin. And already at some subconscious level, we believe in the appearance of the fairy and in her miracles, even if short-lived. We no longer notice where reality ended, but fiction began. Or maybe we just don’t want to part with our dream. But the kind and insightful storyteller warned that he sees as his readers “people who have good taste and are penetrating enough to understand that these tales are written for entertainment, and their content is not too deep.” Nevertheless, do not deprive yourself of the opportunity to dream, because "the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
Films about Cinderella are truly legendary. Everyone should see them in order to find himself in the world of a fairy tale and at least for a minute believe in a miracle. Enjoy your views!
