Kveta Fialova is one of the most famous Czech actresses, whose fame and popularity spread far beyond the borders of her native country and even Europe. Biography
Kveta Fialova was born on September 1, 1929 in the town of Velke Dravets (at that time Czechoslovakia, now - Slovakia). The girl grew up in creative indulgence on the part of her mother, a sculptor and artist, who adheres to Buddhism, and in strict discipline on the part of her father, a military pilot, an ardent evangelist. Such versatile upbringing greatly helped in the formation of the character of the future actress: she grew up as a creative person with a free imagination, but at the same time she could always pull herself together with a reliable inner core.
During the war, the family left Slovakia, hiding from the Nazis in the villages. In 1945, the 16-year-old Kvetu was raped by two soldiers of the friendly side - this event left a heavy imprint in the girl's growing up period.
After the war ended, Kveta Fialova, who had long dreamed of an acting career, worked for some time in the regional theaters of Cesky Tesin. From 1946 to 1950, she studied at the Czech Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno.
Carier start
In the movie, the actress Kveta Fialova made her debut in 1949, while still studying, playing a small role as the girl Blanca in the film "Big Chance". Having received her education, she tried herself both in the cinema and in the theater of Kvet. She could not decide what was closer to her. So, from 1950 to 1951 she was an actress in the Opava Theater, then, from 1951 to 1954, she worked in the Ceske Budejovice Theater, while simultaneously appearing in films with minor roles twice. From 1954 to 1957 she managed to change two more theaters, and finally in 1958 she found her permanent place in the Prague ABC theater, where she served most of her life.
Movie success
Having become a permanent actress of the ABC theater, Queta Fialova still occasionally appeared in the cinema, but decided that the theater would become her main field. Everything changed in 1964, when the actress received the main female role - the dashing artist Tornado Lou - in the cult musical and parody western "Lemonade Joe". This Czechoslovak film received two international awards and gained immense popularity in Europe and the USSR. Along with the film, Kveta Fialova became a celebrity. After Lemonade Joe, three successful films were released with the participation of actress Fialova: The Phantom of Morrisville Castle, Trains Under Closer Watch, and Death Beyond the Curtain.
The film "Trains under close supervision" has become the most significant Czechoslovakian picture internationally. He was awarded the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award, BAFTA, and the Directors Guild of America. In this film, Fialova played the role of a charming countess who influenced the main character.
By the end of the 60s, Kveta Fialova again gave most of her time to theatrical works, appearing in films only in secondary or vivid episodic roles. Even playing the smallest roles, the actress did not lose popularity with the audience.

The actress continued to act until 2014, her filmography includes more than 60 roles in films and TV shows. She also did not leave the theater until the very advanced years, actively performing until 1990, and then regularly appearing as a guest star, or in her own solo performances. Famous theatrical works by Fialova include such roles as Morgana in the play "Three Oranges", Jessica in "The Merchant of Venice", Betsy Tverskaya in "Anna Karenina", Maud in "Harold and Mod".
Personal life
Kveta Fialova was married twice: the first time she married at the age of 21, with the Czechoslovak playwright Jiri Yosko. Her second husband was Pavel Khasa - they married in 1959 and lived together for 50 years, until the death of Paul in 2009. In 1962, the couple had a daughter, Zuzana.
In 2015, the actress suffered a heart attack, because of which she had to leave creativity. The last years of her life, Kvet Fialova spent in the hospital and died on September 26, 2017 from Alzheimer's disease at the age of 88 years.
