Learning to cook compote from frozen berries - tastier than in summer!

Many people mistakenly believe that the compote of frozen berries tastes significantly inferior to ordinary (summer), and therefore do not want to cook it. However, if you make it right, observing all points of the recipe, you can get a surprisingly tasty drink, which can turn out to be even more piquant and interesting than traditional. How to cook compote from frozen berries?

What do you need?

The amount of each ingredient is described based on 5 liters of water. In principle, you can cook more or less compote, but then it will be important to observe all proportions.

  • Berries (600-700 g). You can limit yourself to any one species, but in this case it is recommended to take acidic fruits (red currant, cherry, etc.). Or buy (or make yourself) a berry assortment. For example, it can be a mixture of strawberries (100 g), cherries (200 g), black and red currants (150 g each).
  • Sugar (400-500 g will be enough, but you need to focus only on your taste preferences).

How to cook?

1. Pour water into the pan and wait for the moment when it boils.

2. The next step is to pour sugar into boiling water. Stir the water and wait 1-2 minutes until the sugar has completely dissolved.

3. Berries (they must first be thawed) add after the sugar has dissolved. We bring the future compote of frozen berries to a boil and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes over low heat.

4. After that, you can conduct a tasting. If you think it would be nice to add a little acidity, you can add lemon juice to it. Or finely chop the lemon with the peel and also add it to the compote.

5. Remove from heat and wait for the drink to cool. Done!

Recipe without cooking

In addition, a compote of frozen berries and fruits can be prepared without resorting to the cooking procedure. How to do it?

1. First, prepare syrup for compote. To do this, you need to dissolve 0.75 cups of sugar in 2 cups of water and boil (0.5 kg of frozen fruits and berries).

2. To make the compote even more interesting, you can add a little wine, brandy or liquor to the syrup. Naturally, if you are making compote for children, this item should be skipped.

3. Defrost fruits and berries and rinse with a little warm water. Then we lay them out in glasses, wine glasses, etc.

4. The last step is to pour fruit and berries with hot syrup and let stand for 5-10 minutes.

5. Such a compote can be served cold, waiting for it to cool completely and throwing a few ice cubes.

The freezing of berries of each species has its own specific features. However, you can easily do this at home. As a rule, all that is needed is to get rid of cuttings and seeds and arrange the berries on a special tray. To preserve the taste, sprinkle them with sugar. Then we send the tray to the freezer. After a day, you can shift the berries into jars. They also need to be stored in the freezer. Fruits and berries frozen in this way can be useful not only for making compotes - for example, jam from frozen berries is considered very tasty. But this is a completely different story.
