Etiology of thrush
This disease is caused by a fungus called Candida Albicans. It is the causative agent of thrush in 85-90% of cases. The remaining 10-15% are in other fungi from the genus Candida. It is worth noting that such microorganisms live on the vaginal mucosa and are normal. So Candida Albicans should be classified as opportunistic microorganisms. This fungus can cause diseases only if the general or local immunity of the woman is violated. Often a similar phenomenon occurs when a woman has a sexual partner, she uses drugs that reduce the body's resistance, in diseases manifested by weakened immunity, or during pregnancy. It is worth noting that during pregnancy there is a physiological decrease in the immune properties of the body so that the fetus can develop without any obstacles from its future mother.
What are the symptoms of thrush?
This disease is characterized by the presence of 3 main signs: the appearance of whitish foamy discharge, as well as burning and itching in the external genital area. As for pathological discharge, they are most often moderate in their quantity, but in some cases their volume is very significant. A very characteristic feature of the itching and burning sensation observed with vaginal candidiasis is their intensification in certain situations. These include urination, the onset of menstruation, and sexual intercourse. It is the unpleasant sensations that arise in these situations that make a woman begin treatment for thrush as soon as possible during pregnancy. In addition, women in a position are much more often compared to others checked by a gynecologist and take tests, therefore it is not surprising that the detection among them is somewhat higher. This is a fairly positive phenomenon, since timely treatment of thrush during pregnancy is an integral aspect of the health of not only the mother, but also the fetus.

How should vaginal candidiasis be treated?
Alternative treatment of thrush in women without appropriate appointments by a qualified specialist is unacceptable, since this can be dangerous to the fetus. Among the folk methods, which are often found in the recommendations of doctors, it is worth highlighting all kinds of baths with decoctions of chamomile or oak bark. The fact is that these plants have a natural antiseptic in their composition, completely
safe for mother and fetus. Naturally, most often they act only as additional measures of therapy. Effective treatment of thrush during pregnancy is carried out using antimycotic drugs. However, most of the most effective drugs can not be used. Unfortunately, drugs that are safe for the fetus for treating thrush are far from the most effective. Of these, Pimafucin is most commonly used. In addition, the
treatment of thrush during pregnancy is supplemented by rational hygienic care for the external genitalia and vagina.
