The television series "The Magnificent Century" attracted the attention of a wide range of viewers. Even those who were never keen on history were happy to follow the development of palace intrigues and harem conspiracies that took place in Istanbul in the middle of the 16th century. But the magnificent age of greatness of the Ottomans, when the sultans replaced each other on the throne, did not end with the death of Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska. The era of women's rule continued for a whole century. Therefore, it was logical to shoot the second season of the series. It was called The Magnificent Age. Kyosem. " The series premiered in October 2015. And already in January 2016, the first episodes of this historical epic were seen by Russian viewers. But alas, 30 episodes, which were divided into two seasons, ended so quickly ... And now fans of the series are concerned only with one question: will there be a continuation of the “Magnificent Century” after “Kesem”? There are many conflicting rumors about this. Let's get to the bottom of the truth.

The Age of the "Sultanate of Women"
The first series about the ups and downs of Roksolana’s fate was completely based on historical events. Of course, the directors added to the narrative of passions, exciting intrigues and details invented to please the public, but the outline of the plot is fully consistent with what the chronicles and other reliable sources have brought to us. After the death of Suleiman Kanuni, his son Selim began to rule the empire. But under him, his wife Nurbanu-Sultan enjoyed great power to control the fate of the country. “The Magnificent Century” (continuation of the series) tells about the third great sultana - Kösem. She lived a century later than the legendary Roxolana. But the fate of these two women was similar. Both rose from the status of slave concubines to the title of Haseki. Both ruled (albeit indirectly) the vast Ottoman Empire, while displaying remarkable diplomatic talent. But with the death of Kösem, the "women sultanate" did not end. The killer Kösem Turhan Hatice seated on the throne. She became the last ruler, with whose death the magnificent age of the Brilliant Porta ended.

The Russian television channel Domashny significantly increased its popularity rating by purchasing the rights to display the epic. Luxurious costumes and interiors, unprecedented love passions, conspiracies and intrigues, bloody murders - all this caused considerable public interest. The first season of “The magnificent century. The Kösem Empire ”consisted of thirty episodes. The main character was played by two actresses: Greek Anastasia Tsilimpou and Turkish star Beren Saat. In addition, other famous representatives of Turkish and European cinema took part in the series. Interestingly, this season, unlike Roksolana, was completely filmed on Hollywood venues. Thirty episodes from Tims Production, divided by the Russian Domashny channel into one hundred full-fledged episodes, were shown from January until the summer of 2016. And many viewers were worried about whether there would be a continuation of the series "The Magnificent Century."
The first season of Kösem
The shooting of this tape lasted a year and a half. Mature Kösem was already played by the Turkish actress Nurgul Yesilchay. The first series was dedicated to childhood and youth of the future valid-sultan. At the age of 12, a Greek pirate (she was played by Anastasia Tsilimpou) was stolen by Turkish pirates. She falls into the harem of the young Sultan Ahmed and becomes his most beloved concubine. She changes the name. Now her name is Kösem, which means "Most beloved." After the death of Ahmed, his younger brother Mustafa ascended the throne. But Kesem did everything possible so that he was deposed. The first season ends on the episode when the stepson Valide, Osman, the son of Ahmed from his first wife, expels the stepmother to the Old Palace to end her influence on politics. Will there be a continuation of the "Great Age" after Kesem? Will the state change with its displacement?
The second season of the Kösem Empire
The tender and slightly naive Anastasia is completely transformed. Now she is played by the Turkish Nurgul Yeshilchay. She embodies the image of a woman hardened by life, which circumstances make her cynical. She brutally cracked down on everyone who was trying to stand in her way to power. She rules the state as regent Shahzade Murad. But the latter is increasingly burdened by the tough care of his mother. He strips her of her regency title and also exiles to the Old Palace. But Kyosem is not going to leave Topkapi. When Murad ordered the execution of all his younger brothers, his mother saved the Shahzadeh Ibrahim. And she did well, as her eldest son had no surviving male children. After the death of Murad, Ibrahim became the sultan. Kösem again became the untitled ruler of the Ottoman Empire. But Ibrahim, due to mental illness, not only quarreled with his mother, but also began to pursue a policy that brought the empire closer to collapse. Therefore, Kösem was forced to conspire against her son. But already on the political stage, a new ruler appears - Turkhan-Sultan.

The wife (or rather, already a widow) of Ibrahim and the mother of the six-year-old Mehmed the Fourth, who ascended the throne, also want power. The daughter-in-law wins in the fight against mother-in-law. Bribed pages of Turkhan-Sultan penetrate the chambers of valid Kösem and strangle her. Mehmed's mother becomes a full valid. Even after becoming a sultan, the son deeply revered his mother and consulted with her in everything. But an unsuccessful foreign policy (war with the Republic of Venice) against the backdrop of the internal economic crisis displaced the Ottoman Empire from a leading position on the map of Europe. The reign of Turhan-Sultan was the beginning of the collapse. The third season, reporting on these events, will be released in the spring of 2018. Will there be a continuation of the "Great Age" after "Kesem"? Timur Savji, the producer of the series, said the narrative would end with the death of the great sultana.
