Cabbage was known in ancient times. This is evidenced by archaeological excavations. It was popular among the ancient peoples, in particular among the inhabitants of Egypt, Greece and Rome, who did not manage with only one variety. Even then, people knew about the healing properties of cabbage. In folk medicine, its juice was used to heal wounds and rejuvenate the skin. But with acute intestinal cramps, it was not recommended to eat cabbage, as it is today. Since it irritates the intestinal and gastric mucosa and can cause pain in the stomach.
Today, there are a huge number of varieties of cabbage. Each variety is prepared differently. But the most common and acceptable of them is white cabbage (or cabbage). It is used for cooking all over the world. Cuisines of the peoples of the world share and share culinary experiences with each other. Therefore, the most popular recipe is stewed cabbage. It can be either an independent dish or a filling of all kinds of dishes, as a pure version of stewed cabbage, or stewed cabbage with various additives and toppings.

Braised Cabbage with Sausages
The recipe includes the following products:
- ¼ average head of white cabbage ;
- 1 medium onion;
- sausages of any grade or sausage;
- 3-4 tablespoons mayonnaise;
- 2 tbsp tomato paste, moderately sharp ketchup or fresh squeezed tomato;
- butter or sunflower oil for frying;
- seasonings for everybody.
1. Finely chop the cabbage and fry it in refined vegetable oil, although the smelling oil will give the dish a special aroma and will not spoil it at all. Braised cabbage over moderate heat under a lid.
2. Finely chop the onion and add to the cabbage, mix.
3. Stew and fry for 5-7 minutes, until the onions become transparent. Immediately add sausages cut into rings into the pan.
4. Again, put the fry under the lid. Stir until the ingredients are golden brown.
5. Now add mayonnaise and tomato paste. Stir, add a little boiling water, mix again and cover. Put on low heat and simmer for 15 minutes. And now add seasoning to your taste. These can be various varieties of peppers, as well as caraway or cinnamon.
6. Remove from heat, arrange on plates and decorate with greens. Braised cabbage with sausages is ready.
Sausage Stew
If you are a fan of smoked meats and prefer sausage instead of sausages, you can use this recipe.
To prepare this dish you will need: white cabbage, tomato paste, a small onion, carrots, smoked sausage, spices (lavrushka, black pepper and allspice).
Braised cabbage with sausage is very simple to prepare. Grind the carrots into strips, fry in a pan until half cooked. Add chopped cabbage to the pan and simmer with the lid covered for about 20-30 minutes, until it halves in volume. After that add cooked spices. Tomato paste must be diluted with water 1 to 1, pour. Put out a little so that the water evaporates. That’s all the dish is ready.
Braised cabbage with sausage will become more refined if you use meat during cooking. Cabbage in combination with it can be used not only as a side dish, but also as an independent main dish.
Braised cabbage with sausage will be more juicy if cooked with the addition of lard. To do this, add carrots to the fried fat in a pan. Fry it until golden brown. Then put chopped cabbage and stew. Smoked sausage is placed at the end and again stewed with added tomato or adjika.
