In 1979, the famous Soviet writer Yulian Semenov - the author of the novel "Seventeen Moments of Spring" - wrote a political detective "TASS is authorized to declare ...". His film adaptation was a success, albeit not as loud as the movie series about the brave scout Stirlitz. Many stars of Soviet cinema were involved in the project, due to which the serial film is still of interest to the audience today.
About the creators of the series
The serial film "TASS is authorized to declare ..." (actors and roles we list below) was directed by Vladimir Fokin. This is perhaps his most striking work in the cinema, since in subsequent years he mainly participated in the creation of television broadcasts and was engaged in teaching at VGIK.
The painting "TASS is authorized to declare ..." was created by him in close collaboration with Julian Semenov, who acted as the author of the script. Probably, it was this circumstance, as well as the fact that the writer partially wrote this detective novel, so to speak, from nature, that ensured the success of the series.
Content
According to the plot of the film "TASS is authorized to declare ..." (the actors who starred in the film were familiar to the audience at the time of its premiere), the CIA is preparing a coup in the fictional African state of Nagonia. They are opposed by KGB officers led by General Konstantinov. In particular, Colonel Slavin is sent to Africa under the guise of a journalist. As a result of the investigation, he finds out that, possibly, the Soviet trade representative in Louisburg Zotov and his ex-wife Olga Winter and her lover Dubov, who are in Moscow, are involved.
Slavin meets American business John Glebbom. It turns out that this is a CIA agent who is ordered to bring General Agamo to power.
Glabb realizes who the Soviet journalist really is and decides to discredit him as a double agent. In Moscow, the writer Stepanov is involved in the investigation, studying the crimes of the Nazis. Soon Olga Winter dies. Examination shows that the young woman was poisoned. Suspicion falls on Dubov. In Louisburg, the local police ransacked Zotov. He is resisting and injured.
Slavin goes all-in and tells Glabba that he knows about his unsightly affairs in the past and that he is an agent of the CIA. In addition, the article by journalist Stepanov about what is happening in Nagonia confuses all American plans.
Glabb sets a trap for Slavin, and he finds himself in prison. In Moscow, the KGB leadership decides to arrest Dubov, but he takes poison at the last minute.
The correspondent of the American newspaper Post, Paul Dick, defends Slavin. Meanwhile, in Moscow, instead of Dubov, a KGB officer who was made up for him was going to meet with an unknown CIA resident. The agent is detained, so the American intelligence services are forced to abandon the plan for organizing an armed coup in Nagonia.
"TASS is authorized to declare ...": actors and roles of the first plan
Yuri Solomin first played the fearless scout in the series "Adjutant of His Excellency." The image of a handsome officer with aristocratic manners immediately made the artist one of the sex symbols of Soviet cinema. Like other actors in the film "TASS is authorized to declare ...", he did an excellent job in this film. In his performance, Colonel Vitaly Slavin is a Christomatical image of a Soviet intelligence officer, ready for feats for the sake of a just cause. He sincerely believes that the party leadership knows exactly what life should be like in any particular country, regardless of the desire of its inhabitants. However, his counterparts from the CIA act in exactly the same way.
General Konstantinov
Vyacheslav Tikhonov became a recognized star of domestic cinema at a very young age. At the time of filming in the film “TASS is authorized to declare ...”, he had roles in such film masterpieces as “Young Guard”, “War and Peace”, “Optimistic Tragedy”, etc. However, the role of Stirlitz in The cult series “Seventeen Moments of Spring” based on the novel by Julian Semenov. That is why no one was surprised by Tikhonov’s invitation to the picture “TASS is authorized to declare ...”. The actors involved in the filming joked that it was a great honor for them to work under the guidance of the country's most famous scout, who was able to beat Mueller himself.
Vyacheslav Vasilyevich played the role of General Konstantinov, who is devoted to his work and has a huge experience of fighting on the fronts of the Cold War.
John Glebb
This is the most unexpected role of the favorite of the entire former Soviet Union - Vakhtang Kikabidze. Prior to working in the film "TASS is authorized to declare ..." he was known as an excellent comedian. He especially succeeded in the image of the pilot Mimino from the painting of the same name by George Danelia.
When, after the premiere, critics claimed that in the series “TASS is authorized to declare ...”, the actors who played the roles of CIA agents did their job well, they primarily had in mind Kikabidze. In his performance, the image of John Glabba turned out to be very bright and charismatic. Looking at his hero, the viewer unconditionally believes that this is a scoundrel, ready for anything.
Paul dick
Alexey Vasilievich Petrenko played the role of an American journalist. Before creating the image of Paul Dick on the screen, he already had behind him more than a dozen works in the cinema. Particularly popular artist brought participation in the film "Agony", where he played Gregory Rasputin. He had to create a completely different image in the series "TASS authorized to declare ...".
Actors in the "African" scenes traveled to Abkhazia and Cuba. Alexander Petrenko had to go on such business trips . Apparently, there he spied some gringo manners - the “white” Cubans, which he showed on the screen, although he embodied the image of an American journalist.
Sergey Dubov
This role of Boris Klyuyev is not as famous as the image of Count Rochefort from The Three Musketeers. However, she is one of the most interesting in the film "TASS is authorized to declare ...", since it is Sergey Dubov who is the notorious agent Trianon, whom the KGB is trying to calculate and neutralize.
Female images
In the film "TASS is authorized to declare ..." male actors are for the most part stars, but female images in the film were embodied by no less famous actresses. For example, Olga Winter was played by Irina Alferova. In her filmography, such beloved films as “Walking through the agony”, “Three Musketeers”, and other Alferov in the guise of Olga Wiener are a smart and worthy adversary for KGB officers who counts their moves, but still makes a fatal mistake.
The second important female role of Glabba's mistress - Pilar - was performed by Eleanor Zubkov. At one time, the actress worked as a model in the Vyacheslav Zaitsev Fashion House. She looked very organically in the role of a girl with connections from an impoverished family of Spanish grandees, forced to sell herself to a successful American businessman, who, by the way, has a legal wife.
By the way, since we were talking about the wife of Glebba, it should be said about the performer of this role Olga Volkova. She had to screen the daughter of a Nazi criminal who inherited millions from her parents. Her husband holds her in a psychiatric clinic and pumps drugs in the hope of freeing herself from her unloved spouse and taking possession of her money.
Now you know who shot the picture "TASS is authorized to declare ...". Actors, whose photos are familiar to almost all residents of the post-Soviet countries, played in this film in such a way that even the ideological background does not interfere with enjoying a good movie.
