Synechia in boys - causes, description, treatment

Synechiae are adhesions between the surface of the foreskin and the head of the penis. At birth and in infancy, all boys have congenital synechia. They are quite delicate and subtle. Under the influence of the enzymes of the sebaceous glands and due to spontaneous erection, they separate independently when preparing the head of the penis for opening. This process is physiological, not instantaneous, but gradual. Normally, he does not bring the child the slightest concern.

Sometimes during this process, a phenomenon such as balanoposthitis can occur. This is a process of inflammation of the accumulation of smegma, a curdled grease. The penis is red, swollen, and the child feels pain when urinating. Many parents begin to panic and sound the alarm, but you should not be particularly scared. This phenomenon is not as scary as it seems at first glance, and pretty quickly stops. As soon as the smegma breaks out, the process quickly subsides. To accelerate this, a cavity is washed between the head and foreskin. The specialist performs this procedure, but any mother is able to learn. Remediation is carried out by a stream of antiseptics. The simplest and most affordable of them is a decoction of chamomile. Attempts to separate synechia in boys at the same time are contraindicated. Such torn commissures will grow together again after 10 days, but they will no longer be tender, but with elements of connective tissue, that is, cicatricial.

Synechia in boys disappear on average by 6-7 years, although this process is very individual. After 7 years, hormonal changes occur in the body, which also entails a change in the composition of smegma. From this time, the risk of inflammation increases.

Synechia in boys: treatment

If the physiological process of separation of adhesions for one reason or another in the child is delayed, the doctor may prescribe the separation of synechiae. This procedure is extremely painful. Through local anesthesia, a complete absence of pain and discomfort should be achieved. Why is this so important? Because the head of the penis is an extremely sensitive area, there are many nerve endings.

It is difficult to remove synechia in boys. Any pain in the genital area is always very powerful. And although it does not last long, only a few seconds, but such severe sharp pains can subsequently lead to very serious disorders, mental disorders and erectile dysfunction. I wish that those who tear off the synechia from the boys without any pain relief would not forget about it, saying: โ€œWell, be patient a little.โ€ A professional doctor will correctly choose the best method of pain relief, without forcing the child to experience pain.

A few words about the procedure for the separation of adhesions. It is made without any special tools, only with the help of hands and napkins. The period after this is very important. Within a week, it will be necessary to apply special ointment preparations that prevent re-splicing. Ointments create a layer between the surfaces of the mucous membranes. If they are not applied, adhesions will inevitably grow together again. So this moment in treatment should be monitored especially carefully.

So, briefly summarize the above:

  • at an early age, almost all have male synechia in male children, and this is a normal physiological state;

  • sometimes inflammation of the glans penis and foreskin can occur, but this phenomenon is quickly treated by going to the doctor or proper home care;

  • rupture of synechia at an early age cannot be made;

  • instant rupture - the process is extremely painful and should be done only with complete local anesthesia;

  • after adhesions are removed, treatment is performed to prevent their reunion.
