The horror about dolls mankind began to invent back in time immemorial. Many beliefs have legends associated with these toys. For example, it is believed that if you give the doll a semblance of a person you hate and strike it into a vital organ, the prototype will immediately experience pain in this place. The most famous franchise
The horror about killer dolls has become one of the recognized trends of horror (not very, however, widespread) after the premiere of the film "Children's Games". It was then, in 1988, that Chucky was born. By 2013, the franchise has already 6 parts. Now, no one feels much fear at the sight of the red-haired ominously grinning character. And a quarter of a century ago, this creation of Don Mancini's fantasy aroused awe, and not only in childish hearts. The remaining series were weaker. The appearance in the 4th part of the life partner of the little maniac Tiffany did not help much (although Jennifer Tilly tried very hard to make the image vivid). However, it is the Chucky saga that is the most famous horror about dolls.
Knock on an unfamiliar house ...
Even before the authors of Chucky and Company, the director of The Resuscitator and one of the creators of the curious series The Masters of Horrors approached the theme of “horror about dolls”. In 1986, he shot the thriller Dolls. The picture begins very traditionally for horror. A storm catches travelers and they are forced to seek shelter from an elderly couple of Hartviks. They live in a lonely mansion and make dolls. A miscellaneous six crept in: untidy girls, a little girl and her father, a bitchy (a la fairy tale about Cinderella) stepmother, a handsome guy. Knocking on the house, they have no idea what a stormy night awaits them. No less colorful is the “other side”: the ominous Petrushka, soldiers, clowns, a brave cowboy. Mary Liz, who in 1991 presented fans of the “Pretty Dolly” genre. In this tape, a certain evil spirit is no longer instilled in a boy doll, but in an exquisite beauty.
Creepy secrets
Horror about the dolls is Kevin Tenney's Bad Pinocchio. In this horror of 1996, the atmosphere of escalation of horror is most detailed and interesting. The puppet - apparently a harmless toy - fell into the hands of the daughter of lawyer Zoe. And this lawyer defended the son-killer of Vincent, sentenced to death. A good movie, although some scenes are clearly copied from the classic "Children's Games." Not for hire, but only on the video in 1989, another picture came out, which became the ancestor of the franchise - “Lord of the Puppets”. According to the plot, psychics study the legend of the master Andre Toulon. This sorcerer at one time created the five unsurpassed murderer dolls, each of which was distinguished by a special passion for killing and the method of destroying people. These were the Jester, Leech, Pinhead, Blade and Driller. Monsters were programmed to guard the creepy secrets of their "father."
