Why is skin peeling on the palms. Causes. Treatment methods

If the skin on the palms is peeling, first of all it is necessary to establish the cause of this unpleasant phenomenon. The most common of these is lack of moisture. If you are sure that you moisturize your hands enough, pay attention to the soap you use daily, perhaps the reason is it.

Soap with a deodorizing or antimicrobial effect in the vast majority of cases causes dry skin. If the skin on the palms is peeling, therefore, it is gentle and sensitive, and in this case it is recommended to use soap, for example, with olive oil, that is, the fat content should be higher than that of ordinary soap. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to the composition of the soap used. Lanolin is widely used in its production, however it is he who often causes peeling and allergic skin reactions.

Surprisingly, a towel can be the cause of such an unpleasant phenomenon as peeling. On the recommendation of cosmetologists, sensitive delicate skin should only be lightly patted with a towel, and not rubbed with enviable zeal after bathing, washing, etc. Intense friction damages the upper layer of the epidermis, and if you add a hard towel to this, it is not surprising that the skin on the palms is peeling.

If your hands come in contact with irritating substances that penetrate deep into the skin, it can also cause peeling of the skin on the palms of your hands and even cracks. In winter and early spring, the cause may be a lack of vitamins in the body.

Peeling skin on the palms of the hands and for other reasons: damage to the upper layer of the epidermis (scratches, bruises, cuts); destruction of the upper protective layer of the skin (use of cleaners / detergents); environmental influences (wind, cold, heat) and so on.

Treatment methods

Peeling of the skin on the fingers and palms is treated in several simple ways. First of all, it is necessary to remove dead, dry particles with a scrub - repeat the procedure several times a week. You can also use a gel peeling or mask with an exfoliating effect. For daily hand skin care, it is necessary to use products and creams that contain components that hold moisture, such as silicone, mineral oil, etc.

Before going to bed, you need to wash your hands, get wet with a terry towel, generously smear your hands with oily cream or vegetable oil (you can use cosmetic gloves made of cotton cloth) - this procedure is very simple, but incredibly effective.

If the cream does not cope with peeling, additional procedures should be used: baths, masks, compresses. You can use baths with salt or lemon juice. Immerse your hands in warm water for about half an hour, then dry with a soft towel. This procedure relieves fatigue and effectively cleanses the hands. Then immerse your hands in the healing bath: warmed olive or other vegetable oil. After half an hour, the remains of the mask are thoroughly washed off with warm water, the hands are slightly dried with a towel, and a nourishing cream is applied.

The effectiveness of masks is much higher than creams, as they have a high degree of penetration into the skin. In addition, masks saturate the skin with nutrients necessary for its healthy state.

One of the best treatments for peeling is sea buckthorn oil, which can be either an independent tool or the basis for a mask. The mask is applied for 30 minutes (example: mix sea buckthorn oil (125 ml) with pumpkin juice (3 tablespoons), beat the mass), then the remaining mask is thoroughly washed off with warm water, the hands are slightly dried, and a nourishing cream is applied.

A mask of oatmeal, olive oil, milk and honey is also very effective. Mix all the ingredients in a ratio of 6: 2: 2: 1, then apply the finished uniform mask to the palms of your hands, and rinse with warm water in an hour (using cosmetic gloves significantly increases the effectiveness of the mask).
