"Iodinol" is an antiseptic iodine-containing agent, which also includes polyvinyl alcohol. The active substance of the drug is potassium iodide. Due to the content of polyvinyl alcohol in Iodinol, the time of interaction of iodine with inflamed tissues increases, since its release slows down. In addition, the degree of irritation of this substance on the damaged surface is reduced. Among the analogues of "Iodinol" can be mentioned "Yoks", "Polyvidone-iodine", "Betadine" and "Vokadin".
"Iodinol": method of application
The drug is prescribed only topically, externally. Among the indications for the use of "Iodinol" are the following diseases:
- chronic tonsillitis;
- purulent surgical diseases;
- purulent otitis media;
- burns (thermal and chemical);
- trophic, varicose ulcers;
- stomatitis.
To treat the surgical field, Iodinol is also used.
Recommendations for the use of the drug for various diseases
The principle of surface treatment with a solution of "Iodinol" differs depending on what disease it treats. So, for chronic tonsillitis, the drug is prescribed as follows: “Iodinol” is used to wash tonsil lacunae, as well as supratonsillar spaces every two or three days, as the doctor prescribes. Usually, four to five washes are enough to recover. For one treatment, as a rule, about 50 ml of solution is used.
In atrophic rhinitis, Iodinol is also prescribed. The method of application in this case is as follows: irrigation of the sinuses and gargling. Procedures are carried out two or three times a week for two to three months. Before use, “Iodinol” is pre-softened and dried crusts are removed from the nose.
The drug "Iodinol" is successfully used for stomatitis. If an adult needs treatment, then it is enough for him to moisten a cotton pad or swab with a drug on his own and treat the entire inner surface of the oral cavity: cheeks, gums, tongue. If the treatment is carried out for young children (strictly prescribed by the attending physician), then in this case it will be more convenient to wrap the index finger with a sterile gauze cloth, moisten it with “Iodinol” and carefully treat the affected areas. The drug must be applied after meals two or three times a day, as prescribed by the pediatrician. It may be necessary to dilute the solution with boiled and chilled water for the procedure.
"Iodinol": method of use for burns and other diseases
Since with any type of burns it is impossible to lubricate them with a cotton swab, Iodinol is applied to sterile gauze dressings and put them on a sore spot.
With severe inflammation of the throat, "Iodinol" is also prescribed. Rinsing is carried out as follows: 15 ml of the solution is diluted with a glass of boiled chilled water.
With purulent otitis media (inflammation of the middle ear), “Iodinol” is dripped into the ear canal for five to seven drops. Treatment lasts, on average, about three to four weeks, depending on the severity of the disease.
Contraindications to the use of "Iodinol"
The drug is not prescribed for the following diseases: thyrotoxicosis, herpetiform dermatitis, as well as for hypersensitivity to iodine. The use of "Iodinol" during pregnancy, breastfeeding, as well as the possibility of treatment with the drug in childhood should be discussed with your doctor separately. In any case, "Iodinol", the method of application of which is given here, is a drug, and not a dietary supplement. Therefore, it is unacceptable to use it for self-treatment. In addition to the indications for use, there is compatibility of the components of "Iodinol" with other drugs, as well as an acceptable daily dose of the drug. About all these subtleties, only a specialist knows well. Do not ignore this circumstance and engage in self-medication without the advice of a doctor.
