The TV show project “Jury trial: the final verdict”, whose actors are known to every third domestic audience, has no analogues on Russian television, as it is a crossing of two formats: television series and script reality.

The "jury trial" began to appear on the NTV channel in 2008 from July 1. In a judicial show, criminal cases of various degrees are considered, and jury members make judicial decisions in accordance with part 3 of Article 31 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In April 20010, the program was subjected to several changes - the show was called "Jury trial: the main thing." In this format, court cases are considered in which the jury has doubts or any additional questions. The investigation is resumed for several days in order to re-examine the case and find new evidence of the guilt / innocence of the defendant. The “Final Verdict” shows how the parties seek new evidence and events that occurred after the commission of the crime. Some cases show that thanks to the investigation of lawyers, a new identity of the person guilty of the crime is established, and the defendant is released. The Final Verdict is released half an hour after the main show.

The storyline of each individual issue of “Jury trial: the final verdict”, whose actors replayed from time to time, was overly emotional, built on the trial of a certain criminal case, played out on the grounds of a real crime. The structure of each episode is standard - a jury, traditionally consisting of a judge and twelve assessors, considers all the circumstances of the case, listening to lawyers and prosecutors. Further, after a short meeting, the panel renders its verdict, declaring the accused not guilty or guilty.

“The jury trial: the final verdict”, the actors and the roles of which immediately after each release become the subject of active discussion for the audience, unfortunately, has no background. But the practice of jury trials in Russia is distinguished by a complex history that began back in 1864. The jury appeared as a result of judicial reforms carried out by Alexander II, and was practiced until 1917. The second birth of the practice took place in 1993 and today operates in most regions of the Russian Federation, specializing in ambiguous, complex and extremely complicated cases. The primary task of the jury is to reduce to a single solution all their personal impressions and opinions about the case and an unequivocal answer to three main questions:
- Was the prosecution able to prove that the offense took place?
- Is it proven that this crime was committed by a person who is currently in the dock?
- Is he guilty?
Each time, after three tiring hours of discussion of the presented details of the case and the speeches of the prosecutor and the defense lawyer, the jury is obliged to make a unanimous decision on the case under consideration. And at the climax, the judge, who is strictly limited to the verdict handed down by the collegium, according to the laws of the Russian Federation, determines the punishment for the perpetrator or removes all charges. The incidents presented in the show are indeed topical and require careful and detailed investigation, resulting in a massive legal educational program. After all, ordinary people are rarely familiar with the regulatory framework. This project analyzes the current legislation on the topics specified in the episode.
