Tuberculosis does not exist on earth for the first century. Previously, it was called consumptive, and, I must say, this name perfectly conveyed the essence of the disease. A tuberculosis patient literally languished before his eyes. But if earlier consumption was the verdict, now the treatment of tuberculosis in most cases is very successful. Often, it even leads to a complete recovery.
Tuberculosis Treatment: A Look into the Past
For a long time, tuberculosis patients were considered hopeless. Their treatment consisted, in essence, of creating the most sparing conditions: peace, silence, twilight, bed rest, drugs that did not justify themselves (they were given simply because it was immoral to not treat the patient). And so on until the patient quietly and slowly fades away.
Gradually, medicine made a discovery: treatment of tuberculosis is possible, and fresh air and sunlight are of great importance here. And the Samara doctor Nestor Vasilievich Postnikov in the 19th century made a real revolution in the treatment of patients with consumption. Having proved the great benefits and excellent healing qualities of mare's milk, he opened near Samara the world's first koumiss treatment center. Tuberculosis treatment was carried out here by methods unprecedented so far: patients (among whom there were even royal persons and courtiers, Russians and not only) played tennis, rode horses, drank, drank and drank fresh koumiss again and ... completely recovered! The tuberculosis clinic created by the innovative doctor has gained worldwide fame. The pilgrimage to the museum existing with her does not stop until now.
Tuberculosis treatment with modern drugs

It goes without saying that one should not joke with such a serious disease, just as one should not overestimate one's strength in the competent choice of therapy. Drugs for the treatment of tuberculosis can only be prescribed by a doctor! However, nobody is going to make a secret from their names: the main anti-TB drugs include Streptomycin, Ethambutol, Rifampicin, Isoniazid and Pyrazinamide. Moreover, not one of them is appointed, but a whole complex. The fact is that mycobacteria of tuberculosis very quickly adapt to drugs and "learn" to resist them, and therefore you need to fight them according to the principle of a real attack. If the patientβs body was resistant to the above drugs, second-tier medicines are included in the treatment: Kanamycin, Capreomycin, Amikacin, Protionamide, Ethionamide, Cycloserin, Rifabutin, PASK and fluoroquinolones. The scheme of their admission is developed individually for each patient. As a rule, treatment of tuberculosis is divided into several stages, 2-4 months each.
Tuberculosis and traditional medicine
Is it worth it to completely entrust your health to folk medicine? Of course, everyone should decide. However, we would not recommend ignoring the achievements of modern science. Still, tuberculosis is a serious, socially dangerous disease and, unfortunately, killing hundreds of thousands of lives annually. Nevertheless, folk knowledge can be very useful, especially if combined with traditional treatment.

Like the Samara doctor mentioned above, modern folk healers recommend that patients should spend more time in the fresh air, not to hide from the sun, and to ventilate the rooms as best as possible. Reasonable physical activity (again in the fresh air) will not hurt either. It is very good to lead, as far as possible, a healthy lifestyle - primarily without cigarettes and alcohol, not to mention drugs. However, as far as alcoholic drinks are concerned, some recipes allow indulgence: for example, a teaspoon of brandy, diluted in warm milk, drunk before bedtime, is beneficial for the patient.
Traditional medicine is very active in nourishing the body with iron. And not in a pharmacy, but in a βminedβ way: a few clean but rusty nails are stuck in the apple for several hours, after which it needs to be eaten. The procedure is repeated daily.
It recommends traditional medicine and dozens of other drugs that make treatment for tuberculosis more successful. Many of them in modern life, of course, are inaccessible. But some can be recommended, we repeat, not instead, but with a course of drug therapy prescribed by a doctor. By the way, choosing one or another folk remedy, it will not be superfluous to consult a doctor whether it is right for you.
And the main thing in the fight against tuberculosis, as in any treatment, is to believe in the strength of your body and know: a full recovery is possible, the main thing is not to give up!
